How does an RN get an opportunity to work outdoors responding to emergencies within the community ? #Spring26

I just got accepted into an RN program and I would love to be an emergency room RN and use those skills to help respond to emergencies within the community similar to how paramedics do it, whether roadside, or at sporting events, or flying down on a helicopter to air lift individuals in need, or at concerts. I am not sure if this is a possible career path for a nurse, but if it is it would bring me so much joy to pursue it. I want to use my skills to give back and to help people when they need it most.

What did you experience EMT and Paramedic Programs ?

Hello, I have a few questions in EMT and Paramedic programs for a school project. 1. Would you get lots of field experience in the EMT program, if so what kind? 2. What are some of the work-life benefits of the career, or the most notable ones? 3. What is the process of becoming a Nationally Registered EMT? 4. What would Emergency Medical Technicians looking to become Paramedics need to learn in order to be one? Like for example would they work with people somewhere? Or Watch someone else work to gain experience and learn technique?

Student interview request — Paramedic / emergency services ?

Hi, I’m a student researching careers in paramedicine or a similar emergency services field for a school project. I would really appreciate it if a professional in this field could answer a few questions for me. Note: Please specify at least your name (first or last is fine) and where you work (city, state, or country) if you’re comfortable. I also have a few follow-up questions I’d like to ask after this. Thank you so much for your time! Questions: - What skills are most important in this career? - What surprised you most about this occupation? - Where/How did you receive your education/training? - What advice do you have for someone new to this career? - How many hours do you typically work in a day?

Unique career options in Health/Medicine that aren't a Doctor or PT?

I am currently majoring in Exercise Physiology and I am also getting my EMT certificate right now. I am really enjoying my EMT class, but am wondering what I can do with both an EMT certificate and an Exercise Physiology undergraduate degree after I graduate. Will I need to go and get a graduate degree or above to have a substantial job after college that includes my love of health and medicine?

What are the pros and cons to becoming a paramedic?

I would love to become a paramedic, but i've heard from a lot of people that it's not that great of a job. There's often trauma involved, and it is at random hours of the day. Apparently it consumes your schedule. I would love to become one, as I said before, but I don't know if it is worth it. Any thoughts?

I am wanting to become an EMT

Hello, I am finally starting to become serious about wanting to start my career and I am just wanting/needing help on where to start and how to go about it. I've been looking into schools, but I also want to go to my local fire station to talk to someone there, and to also put a face to a name. I want to start school at the end of this year or beginning of next year (2025). I know you start by going to school and getting your EMT and becoming certified, but I like to know all the information I can get and being able to talk to someone already in the career seems helpful to me. All of this to say what should I do and where do I start, and are there any tips for me. Thank you!!
