I recently got an interest in being a travel nurse in my future. Are there pros and cons to this?

I am senior and since I was young my dream job was in the medical field specifically a nurse practitioner. I have been looking at school this year to apply and every medical college has less than a 10% acceptance rate. If there is an answer to why this field is so competitive I would like to know.
