How will college prepare me for the real world and career?

I plan on moving two hours away from home. I am really close with my parents and family, but I know I need to branch out to become my own person. I know I'm going to miss them, so I want advice on how to cope or mentally prepare.

I'm currently working on my bachelor's degree in Graphic design, and there are moments when I feel my artwork isn't up to par, and whether my work will be received well. How do I get past this mindset?
