Is there an option of being a microbiologist without working in the clinical area?

I have a bachelor's degree in agronomy, but my biggest dream is to become a microbiologist. The issue is that I wouldn´t say I like the hospital environment or being around clinical samples. So, my doubt is there other areas of microbiology that I can study and work on without being in the healthcare area?

What are some career options in Public Health and what does it involve?

I am soon to be graduating with a Biology degree, but am really unsure about what I want to do with it. I do not particularly want to go into lab science, and definitely want to go to grad school after college. Entering a master’s program for public health is definitely something that I am considering, but I do wonder if I am qualified/if I am at a disadvantage since I did not major in it. However, I feel like I don’t know exactly what careers a Master’s program can lead to and if this is a field that is already saturated/has good job prospects in the future. So if someone could help me learn more about this realm of healthcare, please help me out! Up until now, I had been considering options like becoming a PA or going to the med school route but I want to keep myself open to options like this as it really does interest me! I should also mention the specific areas of Public Health I am interested in are both microbiology and epidemiology. #publichealth #health-sciences #health-administration #public-health #career-paths #higher-education #health #microbiology

What degree is more helpful between biochemistry, molecular biology, or microbiology?

I am a currently biochemistry student and I am very indecisive in my career path. I want to ultimately research and help in the process of creating medicines and treatments to disorders, but I also want to study genetics and cancer stem research. So, I have decided to either undertake a minor or double major in molecular biology or microbiology. Correct me on this if I am wrong, but I researched that with a biochemistry degree one can utilize it to help make medicine or find treatments to diseases and disorders. Meanwhile, a molecular biology degree can be utilized to study disorders and bacterial diseases. So, which degree would be more helpful towards a job field as described? My college only provides molecular biology, biochemistry, biology and a minor in microbiology #biology #medicine #biochemistry #science #molecular-biology #microbiology #genetics #diseases

What are the steps that a virologist under goes to investigate an unknown virus?

My interest career wise is investigation. I'm less than 3 months away to start my bachelors degree in Biology and I have been thinking into what branch I'll be delving in to once I finish it. One of them is virology. I understand that this studies the deseases that viruses cause in an organism. But what exactly does the virologist do in the lab that brings him/her more knowledge about the specimen. I'm intrigued because the virus itself is dangerous due to its effects. I want a response that highlights the processes done to the virus to acquire more information about it. Thank you. #biology #chemistry #environmental-science #environment #laboratory #life-sciences #microbiology #virology
