I want to work as an OB/GYN at a hospital one day.

Context: Ever since I was little I've always been fascinated with children, more specifically babies. When I got to the 7th grade and started learning about how the whole cycle of life works I just fell in love with the idea of being a part of it. As an OB/GYN I would be a part of the greatest part of life, the process of how new life comes to be. That I think is the greatest part of being an OB/GYN.
College: I have looked on countless websites and scoured the internet for really amazing universities that are near me to earn a bachelor's degree in biological sciences or biology. I have narrowed it down to wanting to go to : USC, UCLA, CalPoly Pomona, Chapman University, CalTech, or Harvey Mudd. The reason I chose these specific universities is because I am already limited in my options seeing as I want to spend at least the first four years of university near my parents. But in addition to that these all stood out to me because they are renowned in either biology or the health sciences, something I want to minor in. I also took into consideration how well they had an established Pre-Med emphasis or path that could be followed. I need to get a base degree in the biological sciences so that so that I can be admitted into medical school afterwards.
Other Education: I plan on getting my bachelor's degree at a four year university, going into medical school for four years, then specializing as an OB/GYN through a residency for the next four years. This, in total, brings my post-high school education to be 12 years.
Activities: The thing I am most active with outside of school is Key Club. Key Club is the international high school division of the Kiwanis International organization that specializes in community service and volunteering. When I volunteer with Key Club I get to pick and choose events nearby that I volunteer at such as Health Fairs, homeless feedings, city events, fairs, and even eagle scout projects. I also am a part of the national HOSA club, as well as UnitedMed, and my school's MSA. I also occasionally volunteer at my brother's private school and do art classes since they don't have art.
Job Experience: So far I haven't had any job experience however I am looking into volunteering at Pomona Valley Hospital or the local OB/GYN clinic in Upland. From there I assume that that will provide the job experience necessary to get better jobs to pay off the lengthy sums of attending university.
Soft Skills: Some soft skills I posses are time management, creative writing, staying on task, dedication, commitment, and perseverance. The one soft skill that I believe is the most important I possess, is my willpower because it is the driving force behind all my ambitions.
Hard Skills: Some hard skills that I possess is the ability to touch type at a speed of 50 WPM, I know how to code in HTML, I am fluent in English, and Arabic while I am learning French as well, and I know how to navigate Microsoft Office as well as Google Drive and all its additions.
Other: I plan to learn ASL as well sometime post-high school if I get a chance. It would also be a plus to become fluent in more languages. #computer-science #computer-software

What is the meaning of liberal arts?

I understand what visual arts and all that kind of stuff is but most universities near me are classified as liberal arts institutions. If the meaning is anything like visual arts then why is there business and science and other majors that would have nothing to do with that? #college...

What is the difference between a profit and non-profit university/college?

I have heard both terms but don't understand the significance behind them. I know that some scholarships only apply to schools if they are either profit or non-profit but I still don't understand why. Why is there such a difference? #college #university #higher-education #nonprofits...

What is the difference between a residency and a fellowship?

Given the fact that after earning an M.D. in order to specialize in a specific doctor's field you have to go through a program to gain certification, the terms residency and fellowship have both been mentioned and I, as a result, don't know the difference between the two. #doctor #residency...

Which university is better USC or UCLA and what are the pros and cons of both?

At the moment the most appealing choices I have are USC and UCLA so I want to know which one is better and if that can't be determined what are the pros and cons of each weighed against each other. This is mainly for curiosity's sake but I am also genuinely interested in the matter. #university...
