About

Hello! My name is Jeff Baril, and I bring over 30 years of experience in information technology, enterprise resource planning, and leadership. I am currently completing my degree in Management Information Systems. It was something I started during my infancy in IT when a degree didn't matter. I understand the unique blend of technical expertise and strategic vision that this field demands.

I’ve worn many hats throughout my career—starting as a portable toilet engineer, then a Domino's Pizza manager, and progressing through systems engineer, independent consultant, and leadership roles at Electronic Data Systems, Baylor Scott & White Health, and Alliance Data (now Bread Financial). I was the founder of a consulting firm that I sold off in 2001. Along the way, I’ve worked with various industries, from healthcare to finance to telecommunications, learning that technology isn’t just about systems. It empowers people and solves real-world problems.

What I Offer
Career Insights: I’m here to share what I’ve learned about navigating a dynamic career in tech and management.
Guidance for MIS Students: Whether it’s choosing your first role, specializing within MIS, or understanding industry trends, I can provide advice tailored to your journey.
Workplace Realities: From building strong teams to managing large-scale projects, I’m happy to discuss the soft skills and technical know-how critical for success.

Why I Mentor
I believe in the power of paying it forward. My mentors shaped my career, and I want to offer the same support to others. I also value continuous learning—through formal education, certifications, or hands-on experience—and enjoy helping others discover their paths. If you like to grab new technology, break it, and THEN look at the instructions, you are moving in the right direction.

Let’s Connect
Feel free to ask questions about career planning, industry trends, or balancing life and work in the ever-evolving tech field. Whether you’re just starting or looking to pivot, I’m here to support and inspire you.
