How do I decide on whether to pursue a master's degree or a doctorate?

I am a geology major with a climate science minor and it seems like I don't need to pursue a master's degree before a doctorate. Is this frowned upon, or a good option?

I’ve been interested in this field for a long time, and I want to know what it takes.

I want to major in human anatomy and physiology for research. I enjoy it so much, and I hope calculus 1, college algebra, and trigonometry is enough. I also hope biology and introductory chemistry will suffice. I don't think calculus 2 is something I can handle.
