After serving 26 years with Berg & Associates, Inc. as Vice President, Business Development and Project/Construction Manager in the greater Los Angeles area, Melanie retired at age 56 to focus on volunteerism.
With over 30 projects successfully delivered as a public works Project/Construction Manager and Contract Administrator, Melanie intuitively understands client relationships and project development. She is passionate about delivering quality projects that exceed the expectations of the constituent community and benefit the client with cost-effective frugality with award-winning quality results. Melanie’s projects have been recognized as award-winning from esteemed organizations such as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), American Public Works Association (APWA), Engineering News Record (ENR), American Civil Engineering Companies (ACEC), Western Council of Construction Consumers (WCCC) and others for a total number of 17 project awards.
Melanie builds, leads, and supports teams and client partners from project inception to timely completion. Melanie served as Vice President of Operations from 2012 – 2018, and Vice President of Client Services from 2018 – 2024. Her skills at business development were critical to procuring more than 70% of the company’s projects, from meeting with clients, attending industry events, to writing proposals and scripts for team interview presentations. She was the team leader at all interviews.
Melanie is a Certified Construction Manager (CCM), license number 11085, which is the nationally recognized “gold standard” of personnel credentials in the construction management industry. CCM recognizes practitioners who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in managing all phases of capital construction. To qualify for CCM eligibility, applicants must demonstrate 48 months of continuous Responsible-In-Charge experience, an application with endorsements by multiple clients, and the completion and passing of the CCM examination which assesses the highest knowledge of the best practices in Construction Management.
