I am a senior in High School, I've always had an interest on working with kids especially in the medical field.

I'm entering college this fall, and have the goal of becoming a research editor of some kind. Is there anything I should do in my first or second year of college to better prepare for this?

I have seen many workers get laid off and internship offers rescinded due to current US politics. I want to know how to prepare myself for those stressful and critical situations. Are there any resources we can go to for help or support systems we can depend on for these situations?
