What language would be the most helpful to learn for someone who wants to go into the International Development Sphere?
I want to apply to a language internship where I do an immersive language program and am having trouble choosing a language. There isn't really one that stands out to me, I just really want to be sure I choose a language that will be helpful in my future aspirations. I do not fully know what I want to do when I graduate, I am currently a 3rd year at UCLA, but my major is International Development. I definitely want to work in that area or maybe the state department? I am just not sure what languages would be helpful or that are used a lot abroad/ are well known. What If I Don't Think Going to College So Soon Is Right for Me?
Hi! I am a Junior in high school and have plans in enlisting the military (Army) after graduation (attending basic this summer, hopefully). However, I am not too sure I want to transition to college education so quickly as I feel unprepared mentally and psychologically, and would to like some adventure and experience. I have interests in traveling, International/Global Affairs and Global Health (maybe Internal Medicine?), hence my desire go into the military. What do you recommend I should do? P.S. I live in SC and would like to continue my education and career pursuits outside of the state, you know to explore new territories and all that, however, I am skeptical due to my mother's insistence that I stay in-state and should go begin applying for my college applications next semester; I'm kinda looking at taking the gap year option though:(
Should I get a M.S in Airline Management?
Currently, I’m a senior in college, pursuing a B.A. in International Relations. I’m contemplating a career change and am interested in aviation. I’m exploring graduate programs and am particularly drawn to an M.S./M.B.A. in Aviation Management. However, I’m hesitant because my current B.A. doesn’t directly align with the M.S./M.B.A. in Aviation. I considered obtaining a B.S./B.A. in Aviation, but I’m concerned that it might be a waste of time. I’d greatly appreciate any opinions, recommendations, or advice you can provide. Thank you.
Preparing for a Master’s in International Relations with a Computer Science background
Hi, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science but I want to shift to International Relations (IR) for my Master’s. Since I am from a CS background, what skills or subjects should I start learning now to prepare for IR (languages, politics, history, economics, writing, etc.)? How can I gain relevant exposure while still in college (like volunteering, internships, Model UN, research, etc.) to strengthen my profile? Is it possible to combine tech + IR in any way (like cybersecurity in international security, data analysis in diplomacy, etc.)? I’d love to hear from anyone who has studied IR or works in this field. Your guidance would really help 🙌🏻
As a senior in college, how can I decide which path to take after graduating?
Currently I am a senior in college persuing a B.A. in International Relations but want to change careers and focus on the aviation industry (more specifically, flight attendant or commercial pilot) or in tourism (going to graduate school and get a master's in tourism management). However, I like both industries and I do not know how to decide.
How can I choose the right subjects when I'm still unsure about my future career?
I'm currently working on my International Diploma and have about two years before I head to college. As I review my curriculum, I’m realizing that my subject choices are starting to have a big impact on my future career options. I’m interested in several areas — biotechnology, social entrepreneurship, international relations, and other life or social sciences. But because these fields are so different, I’m struggling to figure out which subjects will give me the most flexibility and leave the most open doors. To anyone working in these or related fields: Which subjects do you use the most in your career? Are there any you thought would be important but rarely use now? Are there any myths or assumptions people make about your profession that are simply untrue? And most importantly — what part of your career gives you the most satisfaction? Any advice or personal experiences would really help me as I try to find some direction. Thank you so much!

What would be the best path?
