What are some ways to improve creative problem solving skills?

It's important to be creative if you want to be accomplished in engineering and I'd like to really start developing the mindset. The other day my teacher showed me a game she used called Disruptus in which you look at cards with ideas or object and try to innovate something new based off of them after rolling a die. I was wondering what strategies others were using to keep themselves inventive. What gets your creative juices flowing? Thanks! #engineering

What do fresh out of college Engineer majors do?

Engineering is one major I'm considering but I don't know what I want to know. I'm afraid I have a different idea of what actually happens after schooling. I can see what classes those in that major take and what companies they may work for, but how different is the class work to an actual job? And what types of projects are being assigned them? #engineering #jobs

Is WSU widely recognized in the engineering community?

I'm looking to go into a career in engineering, and I've applied to UW, but am also applying to WSU as a backup. My GPA is well above 3.5, so I know that I can get into UW for sure (they have guaranteed admission for those with a GPA of 3.5 or greater). If I don't make it into engineering at UW, would WSU be worth attending? #engineering #mechanical-engineering

Is work experience more valuable than educational background?

I am a graduate Electrical Engineering student with little to no experience in the engineering field outside of the classroom. Lately, I have been applying to jobs and receiving little to no interest from engineering companies due to lack of experience even for some entry-level jobs. That made me really wonder about which is more valuable, work experience or educational background? Your thoughts will be of great interest. #engineering #career #education #human-resources #recruiting

What conferences or events are good for me to attend if I want a career in STEM?

I want a career in STEM (not sure what yet, exactly) and I heard a good thing for me to do is attend conferences and events related to STEM education /careers to learn more about my options and to meet new people. I live in Michigan, and couldn't find many events for high school students in the area. I'm open to traveling in the surrounding area though. Do you know of any events or conferences that allow high school students to attend? Thank you #engineering #science #technology #mathematics #stem
