How scared should I be for my future in film/animation given the increasing lack of love major studios show for the arts in favor of business and rapid results #Spring26?

I'm entering college for animation, and I'm beginning to wonder if indie/independent animation is a feasible alternative to major studio work given its rise in popularity.

What factors should I consider when deciding if attending art school is worth the financial risk, or if I should explore other paths to incorporate my passion into a career?

I’ve always been passionate about pursuing a career in game and animation arts, but my current school doesn’t offer specialized courses in this field. I’ve considered transferring to an art school to get the training I need, but given my financial situation, it feels like a big risk. I want to make the best decision for my future—whether that means finding alternative ways to develop my skills, or choosing a major or minor that allows me to incorporate my passion in a practical way. Any advice on how to navigate this decision?

Animation industry

I stepped away from an art college because it was extremely overwhelming, it was super competitive and the workload left me in tons of panic attacks. I also couldn't afford the tuition. Its been awhile (cause of covid) and now im thinking of going back to community for two years to start my minor first and do my major at a 4 year at animation but im worried that i wont like the field as much as i admire it, i work a bit slower when it comes to art it brings out my best work and i want to learn more but a part of me if afraid. Does the animation industry have more cons than pros, will i enjoy working in a competitive field?
