What are ways to increase your changes of being accepted to four year colleges, despite being from a low income area?
Another question I have is how can I stand out to colleges while being from a low income area that, to me, seems to limit my opportunities? I have had personal experiences losing great opportunities due to where I am from. #college #high-school #low-income-area #workforce #steam #stem #science #technology #engineering #math #forensics #pharmaceuticals #medicine #space-exploration #space #planetary-science #astrophysics #astronomy #career #advice
Is space exploration a foreseeable sight within the near future?
Space exploration has always fascinated me, but space exploration, or at least chatter pertaining to space exploration, has dulled immeasurably in the past few years. Have we given up on manned space expeditions? #astronomy #space #nasa #physics #astrophysics
For someone who doesn’t know what they want or expect from their future, what advice can you give?
I’ve never really had a professional interest in subjects. Yes, I enjoy leaning about the unknown so astronomy and marine biology would seem too of my list but, is that what is meant for me? Though I enjoy the subject, I’m not sure if that’s the path I should be taking. #undecided #astronomy #marine #biology #unknown #advice
Educationally, what do astronauts really need to know?
Becoming an astronaut is really challenging. Sometimes it really makes me confused about what an astronaut needs to know, I know they need to be physically fit, meet the requirements for some tests, and other; but, what do they need to really study and train? #astronaut #astrophysics #astronomy #career-path
How do I become a part of the space industry?
Hi. I am a computer engineer from India. I have always wanted to make a career in astronomy/space. I am aware there are basically two paths: The phd path through which I become an astronomer but working in academia doesn't attract me so much, I am also aware that there aren't many positions that open up in academia. The other is the engineering path. Here I am confused whether to continue in computer engineering and hope to work in the space industry (I have heard data science is heavily used in astronomy. maybe I can do masters in that) or to do masters in aerospace engineering (what will be the job prospects of it?). Are there any other paths? I am not very keen on doing a MBA since I am an introvert. How is the International Space University? #space #rockets #astronomy #astrophysics #astronomers #technology #datascience #isu

How do I get an internship at NASA?
I'll start with: I'm an international student. I'm currently in First Year Engineering and I'm planning to do Aero and Astro. My gpa is kind of bad at the moment but I'm working on it. Is there anything I can do apart from increasing my GPA to get an internship at NASA? #internship #nasa #technology #aerospace #astronomy
Should I study something that I enjoy or something that makes a lot of money?
I'm a junior in high school with relatively good grades (A's and B's, some C's) and i'm super confused on what i want to study in college. Most of my family members tell me that i should pick something that is "hot in the industry" like IT or engineering. But as time has passed and I've thought about it, i really enjoy astronomy but there aren't really any colleges or jobs that offer me these choices. I've been interested in astronomy since i was little and have always wondered what lies behind night sky. And to be entirely honest I really have no idea what to study in high school for these subjects. Both technology and astronomy interest me but my interest lies more with astronomy. But at the same time i know that money is super important in this time and age and that the tech industry is full of money. #astronomy #technology #career
Will I make a difference by working as a scientist in NASA?
In a male dominated fields such as NASA, I want to be a leader in this area. I feel working in space exploration will help solve many of the problems on earth by discovery of new resources and providing greater world security. I want to be part of the future in exploring new world possibilities. #space #NASA #engineering #technology #astronomy #science #scientist
If i wanted to be an Astronaut, what Fields would be best to study for?
I have always dreamt of becoming an Astronaut and going into Space since I was a little kid. Though, I know that I could go my whole Life and not live to see the day when I am floating in a space station and spitting water orbs around. So, I want to pick a field that could easily be implemented into the field, without being so specific that I can't do anything else if the field/dream dies off. #Engineering #space #astronomy #astronaut

Does hurt your eyes if you gaze at the sun?
I looked directly at the sun when I was younger, and was told that it would be harmful. I'm interested in optometry, and would like to know why it is bad for me to do so. [P.S. This question was edited by a site admin for grammar and clarity.] #health #astronomy #optometry #eye-care
Aeronautics or Astronomy or Astronautics... Which is better for me to go ahead with as my career?
I like all three, but can go ahead with any 2 of them together, either aeronautics then astronautics, or Astronomy then astronautics. I like looking at the stars in the night sky and also wanna go ahead with things related to space, but I'm also an aviation enthusiast. Please suggest me on what all can I do. #astronomy #career-details
