What was your route to becoming a clinical lab scientist?

What was your route to becoming a clinical lab scientist? I hear you can do directly to a bachelor program or you can get a degree in biology and then find a school or hospital that can help you get your license. I am currently a biology student and I want more information on the route where you do the CLS training after undergrad.

How to become a MLT?

I'm graduating in May with a Bachelor’s in Microbiology and I'm interested in becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS). However, I don’t have any clinical lab experience, and the information I’ve found online about the process is a bit confusing and inconsistent. Could someone help me understand the most direct and realistic path to becoming an MLS with my background? I’d really appreciate a clear roadmap or advice on the best next steps.

How is the job market for Medical Laboratory Scientists in Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula in Michigan?

After completing my Medical Laboratory Science program I want to move to Northern WI or the UP but I'm not sure what the job market for an MLS there would be or how being in a rural area would affect my salary. If anyone could offer some advice that would be great. Thanks again!

Cold emailing and research as a high school student?

I am interested in being involved with research labs and research projects but feel that I cannot do that until college. I live in an area with little large colleges and universities near me so I find it difficult to get involved with research. I am interested in cold emailing professors for research opportunities and was wondering if it was acceptable to be doing that as a high school sophomore. If not, would anyone suggest ways to be involved in research, either paid or unpaid? If you're a professor or have experience would you help answer my questions? Thank you.

How do you upgrade from Medical Laboratory Technician to Medical laboratory Technologist in Canada?

I live in Toronto and am currently studying Human Health Science. I have completed my second year and am currently taking summer school. I am still deciding whether to pursue a career as a Medical Lab Technologist or explore other options. The Michener Institute is the only college in Toronto that offers the MLT program, and I am aware that it is challenging to gain admission there. I am hesitant to leave Toronto because I do not have family in Canada, and my friends are here. Studying in Windsor or Kingston, where I would feel lonely, does not seem worth it to me. My question is, if Michener does not accept me into the program, and I choose to study as a Medical Lab Technician first, is there a pathway to become a Medical Lab Technologist without having to study for three years again?

How do scientific researchers come up with their ideas?

I'm an 11th grader in some biotechnology classes, and it's got me very interested in pursuing a career in medical research. However, I don't really understand how researchers come up with their ideas. Is there a list out there to choose from, or do people come up with them themselves? Because I've been trying and never came up with anything.

What do I need to do in order to qualify for an MLT certification?

I am nearing the end of my M.S. program in Biology and I do not have an MLT certification that a lot of CLIA laboratory jobs require. Only a few colleges provide an MLT program and I can't afford a $5k program right now. The other option is to spend three years in a clinical lab but no lab has responded because they all require an MLT to begin with, so I have no idea how to actually qualify for the MLT certification exam despite having a B.S. in Biology and soon an M.S. in the same field. What do I need to do that is affordable and practical for me to get an MLT certification? I desperately need professional advice, as my professors do not even know how MLT certification works.
