What is the most benificial college for a psychology degree? Also, what degree is the most benificial?

I'm trying to choose a degree in psychology. I am not sure if it would be better to get a higher degree and do more schooling or just an average degree with less schoolling. Also, I am not sure what college would be the best for this degree. I've heard a lot of good news with Wisconsin and Illinios colleges, but am still not sure. Questions that will lead me to the answer could be the following: Is it close to Ilinios? How far away is it? Is it affordable for an average income family? Can I stay there without transferring to get my degree? Is the area safe? Is it private or public? Can I easily bike to get groceries or other things? Is the college not huge, but not too small? and... Will I be able to keep myself busy in my freetime? #psychology #social-work #counselor #therapy #psychiatry #counselling #mental-health #therapists

In regards to Social Work...when a person becomes a licensed social worker in his/her specific state, what goes into maintaining his/her license? Anything? and if yes, then what?

I'm currently investing in an education to receive a degree in Social Work. I feel like there would be something like that...a process to renew a license, because there's so many check and balances to go through anyway, whenever one is dealing with the well being of another. I would just like to know what exactly it is I'd be expecting to deal with in the time to come. Thank you. #law #social-work #counseling

I'm interested in applying for an internship at a local shelter and I want to be prepared and have a resume. My question is, what should I include, and what do people look for in an ideal candidate?

Hello, my name is Katie. I'm currently an undergraduate at a community college looking to pursue a bachelor's (potentially a Master's) in Social Work. I became enamored for this field of work after reading a transcript from an online interview a woman had with a social worker. What I got from the interview was that Social Work allows for the person to engage with individuals/groups within a community to help facilitate a better way of living. It can be anything from providing counseling, give advice on life/financial skills, almost anything! This social worker in the interview touched on how her skill in communication was utilized, that she was challenged in a positive way, through the duties and scenarios that take place at the shelter she worked at, and has advanced through the experience both professional and personally. It think that being able to help people through their hardships is a reward and privilege, and it's something I would be honored to be a part of. I'm asking this question because I here all the time how important it is to get insight about a potential career. With Social Work it's a career with a broad spectrum of duties and because of this, it would be important to narrow down what it is exactly that I what to focus on (women shelters, counseling, court advocate, etc). Thank you for your time in reading this post, and I hope to hear back form your soon! #law #social-work #counseling #family-services

I'm planning to be a social work major and everyone has been trying to convince me to change my major and telling me that social workers don't make much of anything. The reason I chose the major that I chose wasn't because of the money but because its something I will enjoy waking up and doing daily. #doctor #nurse #social-work

when going for a msw is it better to get a clinical social work or a family and children focus if I want to have a group home. Considering some children may need to be diagnosed before entering the group home.

I was told that if I wanted to own a group home I would need to have experience working and dealing with children but someone recommended the clinical social work degree saying that it would include knowledge of childhood development and would give me more reach as a social worker. #social-work

How has being a social worker impacted you? What has been the most rewarding experience that you have had as a social worker?

Hi! I am a freshman in college and majoring in musical theatre and social science. When I graduate, I want to go to graduate school to get a master's in social work. Because I am planning to pursue a career in social work, specifically adoption social work or child welfare, I was wondering how being in this career has affected you? Has it been a rewarding career choice and how have you been impacted? I am also wondering if you could choose a career over again, if you would choose social work? Why or why not? Thank you! #social-work
