I am currently a high school senior and I am trying to get involved in the journalism field. My question relates to what should I do to make myself attractive to colleges and future employers.

With so many people applying for the limited number of spots available, what would make an application stand out from the masses. Or, what should one not do on an application?

I enjoy coding in my free time.
I also intern for a commercial hvac company, so I have earned some experience in this field.

I want to make sure I know some of the people I go to class with so I can ask questions when I have them or form study groups- I'd love to know the best way to do that!
