What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
I wish someone had suggested "shadowing" a person in the fields that I was interested in. Shadowing is where you visit and/or interview someone in their workplace or job. Even 15 minutes of their time is helpful, especially if you have done your homework on the company and come prepared with questions. Volunteering in areas can also be helpful so you can get a ground floor view and even potentially provide networking opportunities. Your family, friends, teachers, and school counselor can help steer you towards contacts. Be brave and confident!
