Ricardo’s Career Stories
What is it like when your job gets tough?
It's like having a lot of things on my plate. And I need to have a big cup of black tea to focus and take a break, and I meditate for 30 minutes to clear my mind and continue with the job.
In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?
A lifesaver. Someone who helps ensure everything is up and running digitally with the website, ensuring everyone understands what's going on, and more. Like holding a huge castle, ensuring everyone is well-served and happy.
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
Learn and practice what you've learned. That's the most important, it's good to learn a lot, but it's even better if you know how to do what you've just learned.
When you were a student, did you do anything outside of school to build skills or get knowledge that has helped your career?
Yes, I spent time reading tutorials to start learning how to build a website, I practiced by myself, and it was trickier finding the exact steps as it was in the 2003 - 2005 era. And at that time, I didn't have the resources to learn in detail, so I had to figure it out myself.
When did you get your first Big Break? How did you get it? How did it go?
Start working remotely at an Institute in New York. I got it there as I offered to build a website for free in exchange for free ebooks, and the person who needed it saw my expertise and invite me to join working with him. It went so well, as I learned a new dynamic to work, and I used to only attend to people from Mexico (my native country). Still, after learning a different dynamic, I continued working and learning more and attending clients in US and Europe.
