I'm aiming to build a career in Business Intelligence. Given how competitive the job market is right now, I’ve decided to learn dbt and Power BI to strengthen my profile and understand the modern data stack better. I come from a non-technical background with a gap after graduation, but I’ve started learning SQL and want to focus fully on the BI side of things—dashboards, reporting, insights, etc. I'm curious to know: 1. How many BI tools are actively used in the current market? 2. Which BI tools are most valuable to learn in 2025? 3. What niche/role within BI makes sense for someone starting out like me and for professional career in future ? Best IT certs for someone from non-tech background with a 4-year gap ? I’m from a non-technical background and I’ve got about a 4-year education gap. I really want to get into the IT field but not sure where to start or what kind of certifications would actually help me land a job in next 6-8 months. I’m kind of interested in data fields. I am currently a sophomore at the University of St. Thomas and have decided to major in Operations and Supply Chain Management and minor in Data Analytics. Knowing the courses and skillsets developed from these two in combination, what are some realistic careers and jobs that I can land with this?
What resources/materials were invaluable on your journey to becoming Data Analyst/Scientist?
Currently, I’m doing research on the best materials for studying Data Analytics/Science. I’m keep seeing recommendations for courses from Google and IBM and book “ Practical Statistics for Data Scientists”. Are they really that good and important? What would you recommend me on my journey? Any books/courses? Anything else that you think is underrated and would help me to out stand in the current job market? Thank you!
What can you do with the combination Data Analytics and Cyber security?
I previously started a career in Cybersecurity and networking and i have gone a distance in that path but recently i got an opportunity to learn data analytics, which i have started. So i want to know where both fields connect and what i can do with them and if i should just stick to one field or i should manage both.
