As a high school senior, should my desire not to be in debt after college affect my decision not to go to med school?

My step mom told me as I was getting older that I will have to get a second job if I want to become a teacher. I have been told so many times I shouldn't go into teaching because of the pay. I am just worried I won't be able to support myself doing what I love.

I am in 12th grade, and trying to decide what school to go to to study pharmacy. One option is cheaper and closer to home, but the other is my dream school but more expensive.
