Is It Okay to Graduate College Late?
Hi, initially I wanted to get my Associates degree from a Community College then transfer as fast as possible. Lately, I have been dealing with a lot of things and considering to take it easy and maybe get my Associates a semester or year later. Yet, I feel quite scared of letting myself go into that path since I was also encouraged to get my degree as fast as I can.
When did you realize that the profession you're in/studying for is something you want to do for the rest of your life?
I've had a countless number of dreams as a kid including becoming a chef, a vet, an artist, etc. My hobbies and interests are constantly fluctuating and it can get in the way of my life sometimes. I recently discovered that I enjoy being around kids, and this has made me wonder if choosing a career in education is something that want to do. Specifically elementary education. (I do have experience doing community service in a kindergarten classroom.) What if I end up disliking my job as a teacher and this is just another one of my interests that happens to change? Can I get some advice, preferably from somebody who is a teacher? What was your experience like? :)

I'm trying to see where I want to live after college, any ideas?
So, my goal is to go to college and study equine, though I'm still not sure where I'll go. I want to be a horse trainer and a riding instructor, and after college my goal is to eventually get a horse farm where I can board horses, train them, and teach riding. I just have no idea where I want to live. Right now I live in Michigan, which I’m definitely not opposed to in the future, but the weather isn’t too good (very extreme a lot of the time, gets super cold in the winter and super hot in the summer). I have a couple things to put in consideration, so it’d be great if anyone knows of any places that fit my needs. Some things I would like the place to have: - Good Weather Year Round - I like it to be around 50s - 70s. Snow is bearable but I’d rather it not be super cold half the year. If it gets hotter/colder, it’s fine, but I want to have pretty nice weather for the majority of the year since I'll be outside a lot. - Safe from Natural Disasters - I know all states have some natural disasters, but if there are super common disasters, I’d prefer to stay away. I want to live there long-term and I’m going to have horses, which would be a hassle to get moved in the case of a deadly disaster. The ones coming to mind are hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, and huge ones. If it’s just severe thunderstorms, it’s fine. - Cheaper - I plan on working with horses, which is super expensive, so I don’t think it’d be easy to live somewhere super expensive. I just want somewhere fairly cheap so I don’t have to worry and live pay check to pay check. - Job Availability/Demand - I want to live somewhere where horse trainers and riding instructors are needed, that way I’ll be able to start making a living faster and it’ll be easier. - More of a Rural Area - I want to live in the country since I’ll be working with horses. I don’t want to live in New York City where there isn’t any good property that will let me do that. If the places don’t have all of these, that’s fine, I just want some ideas. It can also be states or cities, I just want it to be in the contiguous US, so any states besides Hawaii and Alaska. Also, sorry this is kind of long, I’ve just been thinking about it a lot and wanted to know if anyone knew of any good places.
Is my career choice a good decision?
I'm only a freshman in high school, so I am able to change my decision, but I think this is probably what I want to do. I just wanted some more peoples' opinions about it, whether I should minor in something else as a backup plan or something. So, my plan is to major in an equine degree in college, probably Equine Studies unless there is a better one offered. After college, I really want to have my own farm for people to board their horses and be a horse trainer and a riding instructor. Do you think I'll be making enough to have a good and comfortable life? I don't know if I want to have kids yet, and if I do I'll probably only want one or two, so do you think I'd be able to provide for them (if they exist) and myself, plus a SO? Also, how long do you think it would take to build that business after college? I would have to buy the land/house/barn(s), make sure fencing was good, and that would be a lot of money alone. I also don't know where I would want to live, so any ideas of where would be the most beneficial/cost efficient/best overall would be great. I've always wanted to work with horses, in Kindergarten when they ask you what you want to be, I said a Cowgirl. I showed and rode for a few years, but it was expensive and the horses I used weren't great (one was too old and the other went lame), so I've had to stop, and since then it's been my goal to make a life with horses. I also wanted to be a teacher for a while. I think this is what I really want to do. Are there any other little jobs I could do to make extra money if I need? Preferably including horses or teaching? Sorry this is so long, but any answers would be amazing!
Biomedical Engineers do you find happiness in what you do?
I'm trying to find a career that brings me happiness along with the small bonus of eating food and not living on the street of course?
Do you find it rude when we don't say 'thank you'?
ALL PROFESSIONALS! Do you find it rude that if we ask a question, we never thanked you for responding? I've seen a ton of discussions in Career Village that professionals don't even get the "thanks" for responding to the question. I got curious if you find it rude hehe I would like to formally thank the Career Village for continuously posting my questions and to the professionals who take their time to respond and give valuable information to my questions. I am grateful to this community. :) (virtual hugs & handshakes)
