What majors do you recommend in order to be an ethnomusicologist?
I am currently enrolled in a World Musics class at my university, and I find the field of ethnomusicology fascinating. However, I'm curious what majors lead to this. There's music, obviously, but this doesn't prepare one for understanding other cultures. It seems that sociology would be equally helpful because you don't necessarily have to be a musician to study how music reflects/influences culture. There's also the option to get a degree in [Country/Region] Studies, but I don't know if that's too specific for this purpose. Can anyone weigh in on this? Thanks so much! #college-major #music #world-cultures #ethnomusicology #musicology #world-music

Could I switch between two professions/jobs?
I was thinking of double majoring in nutrition and music, because I love both subjects so much and want to have both in my life. Would it be possible to switch between the two if one career path does not work out? I want to audition for a music company and be a trainee, but that would require a full time dedication to the music industry. I'm afraid that if I do that, I will lose my knowledge on nutrition and won't be able to go back into that field. But if I start in nutrition and later audition for the music company, I might be too old to get in, and if I do pass auditions, I would face the same problem: trying to get back into the nutrition field. Any solutions?? #career #music #career-choice #career-path #double-major #nutrition #career-change #music-industry

Are your families satisfied with your career choice?
Many families, children especially happen to be unsatisfied with their parents' career choice. Parents are supposed to be the beacon of hope and the people their kids can look up to for their own reasons. When kids aren't happy about their parents' career choice, that leads to resentment and lack of communication between the parent and the kids. #medicine #music #fashion #information-technology #information

How can I pursue a career that does not assure financial stability in the future?
I want to ask this question on behalf of some of my friends who are struggling with the same situation. These particular friends are unimaginably talented in the things they like to do. For example, one may excel in art and another may be superior in music. As you and I may know, finding work in the creative field of art and music is incredibly difficult. If one does find a job though, it is also hard to survive on that one job since a career in this field isn't that lucrative. My friends insist on following these not-so profitable career paths and I respect their decisions, but I am also worried that they will suffer in their future careers. Please give some feedback concerning these types of situations and tell me what I can do to help my friends! #music #art #future-careers #financial #financial-risk #financial-stability #lucrative #profitable

Im a Junior but I've been wondering since 9th grade what to study, because originally I wanted to study Aerospacial engineering, later on Pediatric Chiropactor and right now I have no Idea what to study. I'm injterested in art beacause I've been studying Theater, dance and music(I just graduated from the theathre program.Right now I'm specializing In dance folkloric dances and basic ballet and Music singing, viola and the trumpet). But also I'm studying on a specialized school on math and science which I love but I wouldn't like to abandon any of those areas, regarding arts and science,so I would like to study something that involves art and science. Getting in to a top college.
I'm a high school soon to be junior and I see this questions asked around alot. But I wanted to ask with my personal inputs. I want to get in to a good college and I've been looking at Princeton. So I was wondering how to get to that goal. I have decent grades, a 3.93Unweighted GPA and I have a little amount ap classes in my bag, about like 10 and I'm planning to take more this year. I'm also not doing bad on service hours, almost have about 500hours by the end of july. As for hobbies, I play 5 sports decently, 6 instruments pretty well for all of them, and I'm a music composer. I know how to write and program and design. But grades and service hours are things that I heard that everyone does. Is there some other things I should look for to get attention of colleges? Maybe some secrets? #college #music #programming #design #volunteering
