Should I minor in something business related if I am considering trying to start my own occupational therapy practice?

I am currently an undergraduate student majoring in psychology and am on the path to becoming an occupational therapist. I would like to apply for OT masters programs after I obtain my bachelors degree. However, because I am possibly considering the idea of trying to start my own OT practice, I want to know if I should minor in a degree that is business related while still in undergrad. If I should, what would be the best minor/pathway to pursue and how else could I utilize it in occupational therapy? I have had an interest in learning more about business anyhow, but I do not want to minor in something that might not apply to what I do later. #occupational-therapy #

Would it be better to obtain an undergraduate and graduate degree separately or together in a single program?

I am a high school student going into my senior year and can't decide which program route I should go into. Over the summer, I have discovered my passion for the occupational therapy field and the good that comes out of it. Knowing very well that I want to major in that study, I started looking into universities that offer an occupational therapy program. I soon found out that there aren't many colleges that offer an undergraduate program for occupational therapy, solely because it is a field that requires a graduate degree to be licensed. I have found a few colleges that offer a 5-year combined BS/MS program for occupational therapy, but that would mean I would have to sacrifice my opportunity to attend a top school. Should I result to being accepted into a better university, getting a bachelor's in a related major, and then later obtaining my master's of occupational therapy? Or should I stick with the 5-year program in a much lower rank school? What are the differences beside time length to be licensed? #occupational-therapy #college-major #college-degree #bachelor's #masters-degree #masters #undergraduate #graduate-school #university #college

How do you find a college that is best fit for you?

I am going into my senior year of high school and need to start preparing for college applications. There are several universities that I have been drawn to, but after doing a ton of research, I could not seem to find a university that offers the whole package. I plan to go into the field of occupational therapy in the future, so when I discovered the 5-year BS/MS OT program, I set my mind on getting into one. Throughout high school, I also focused on maintaining a pretty high GPA to increase my chances in getting accepted into one of the top 30 universities in the United States. Additionally, I am looking into colleges on the East coast so I won't be too far from my family. Of course, recreational facilities, hands-on opportunities, and tuition cost are other big things I look for in a college. To my disclosure, there aren't many options that carry the whole load. When choosing one university, I would have to toss out some of the perks I wanted. How can I find a college that is right for me? #college #university #east-coast #occupational-therapy #gpa #college-selection #college-prep

If you are interested in studying occupational thearpy as a major, but it is not listed in the majors offered at the school can you study it under another major at the school?

There aren't many schools that I have looked into that offer occupational therapy as its own major and I am starting to question if it is its own major. In addition I was wondering if it could fall into other majors/fields of study in college. #occupational-therapy #college-majors #career #what-the-university-offers #what-schools-to-attend

How would I go about becoming a pediatric occupational therapist?

I am going into my senior year of high school and have recently discovered my passion in the field of pediatric occupational therapy. I am fully aware that I must attend graduate school and obtain at least a master's degree to be licensed in the United States. I have been looking into combined bachelor's and master's programs where I can get both my undergraduate and first level graduate studies done in five years. In my perspective, this type of OT program will be the most beneficial and efficient way for me to prepare for the exam and eventually become licensed. Unfortunately, not many universities or colleges offer a combined BS/MS program for OT or an OT program in general. I worked hard throughout high school in order to maintain a weighted 4.35 GPA. My goal was to attend a top university, but in order to do so, I am risking a critical advancement in my studies. Should I attend a top school and solely get a bachelor's degree (and additionally a master's degree in a separate program) or attend a lower ranking school that offers a 5-year OT program? #occupational-therapy #occupational-health #whichpath #college #college-major #university
