Flo’s Career Stories
How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?
As I reflect on my career and the path I took, it feels like I accidentally ended up where I am today. But with the wisdom I’ve gained along the way, I now realize that, intuitively, I was drawn to profession where I can use the skills I’m inherently good at even without a degree. "While the industry or job title may change, the core skills I've applied remain the same, only developed. In my 20s, I acquired my first freight forwarding job providing Administrative work. I held that role for some years. Then I got my first logistics role, and the rest, as they say, "is history." At this point in my career, I have over a decade of professional experience and expertise in the movement, transportation, and management of freight. And I did not go to a University to achieve what I have so far. This is not to say that pursuing a college degree isn’t a valuable investment—certainly, its worth and return are subjective. As you choose your career early in life, know that you will learn through challenges and mistakes. Choose to follow and explore what you feel passionate about and excited for without fear of failing. And if you feel afraid, do things even when you feel slightly afraid and courageously walk the path you chose. Resilience isn’t found on a path littered with roses. But when you find yourself amidst thorny bushes while chasing your bliss, do not grow weary. As you age, resilience becomes a pearl of great price—something few can say their investment has yielded during times of harvest.
