I have to take fine arts at my school, but which should I choose if I want to be a doctor? Does it matter at all?

My school has a fine arts requirement to graduate. I would like to become a doctor and am not very interested in art. What genre of classes are best for my situation? My school offers choir, band, orchestra, theatre arts, visual arts, dance, technical theatre, and art history at various levels and subgenres. Does it even matter that much and should I choose any of them? This is high school, by the way!

How do i balance acting and law school?

Hey! So I am completely torn apart... I'm about to finish school and have already applied to one of the best law schools, but now I have doubts... I don't know if i am making a mistake by pursuing such a time consuming career that I find amazing and inspiring, but has been on my mind for just one year. I find myself doubting this matter, because whenever i watch a musical or even a movie i feel devastated since i left acting school a few years ago since my parents made me chose between acting ( which i had just begun) or horseback riding ( that i was doing for the longest time ). I feel like i choose horses over acting, because i had been doing it for my whole life and it was in my comfort zone. But i had so much fun while acting, singing and dancing. I had only started and maybe wasn't amazing, but i definetly felt in my element. Also the coaches there encouraged me and truly believed in my talent. So, again, whenever i watch a musical i feel like that is what i am made for. I sing everyday and know all the lyrics. I even act parts out :') I don't care if i get famous or not, i just want to do what i feel passionate about. At the same time i have only done acting 6 months and i feel like maybe i don't know the full story. So my question is : should i pursue both things or should i go against my parents will and focus only on acting? I feel like college may feel like an obligation that my parents taught me about. Any advice? #career #law #acting #singing #creative #musical-theatre

Is it better to take a gap year after graduating college?

I am a sophomore in college, and I am just curious on the best way to saving money after graduation. This would be to prepare for the student loan burden. Would it be better to move back home and work a minimum wage job, or try and find a job in a big city that pays more? #college #college-major #college-jobs #professional-development #work-life-balance #theatre #musical-theatre #film

Going into college, how do I balance pursuing a career as a famous actor and a pediatrician?

I am a senior about to graduate high-school. I want to be a famous actor and am set on being a pediatrician too. I've been told doing both is impossible, but that won't stop me from doing what I love. There is so much to learn in each field and I love helping people. Both careers give me that opportunity. I feel like at this point I'm off to a good start both academically and professionally and I want to ensure I stay on the right path to accomplish both. Thank you, Ashton. #pre-med #pediatrician #film #theatre #actor #film-acting #musical-theatre #broadway

If I want to have a professional Broadway career, is a musical theatre major necessary?

One of my dreams is to perform on Broadway, but I don't know how stable it would be to major in musical theatre. I'd like to have a job where I can earn a decent income, so would it be better for me to get a degree in something I know I'd be able to get a job in and then try to audition for shows?

When it comes to booking jobs in the performing arts community, is it better to have a degree in Theatre Performance/Acting or Musical Theatre and why?

For some context, I'm currently a student at my college of choice, and am pursuing a degree in Theatre Performance currently. I truly love every aspect of performing, from live theatre and plays and musicals, to voice over work, and film and television. However, recently I've been debating whether or not to switch to the Musical Theatre program because I do also love musical theatre. I just want future agenices/managers/casting directors to see my versatility and be able to audition for all these types of jobs from all the areas I listed above.

Should I take Music courses in College, even though I don't know anything?

I plan on becoming a book editor - so an English major, basically. Recently I've been watching vocalists videos on YouTube, and have become fascinated with the creative world of vocal technique. My college offers a plethora of Music courses, and I really want to learn about the subject, but I'm sorely lacking. I have no singing ability - my talking voice alone can't stop cracking. I also don't know how to play an instrument, or only some music terminology. I talked to some musical stars who urged me to expand my horizons, but I'm on scholarship, and worry about failing the class. I've been the dumbest kid in the class before and it was hard to cope with. I don't want these prestigious professors thinking I'm a nitwit. Do you think I should go for it? #college #music #music-education #musical-theatre
