Can I get advice on social work and politics?

Right now I am pursuing a bachelors degree in Social Work. I am also pursuing a minor in public administration and a certificate in community resource management. Recently I have become interested in politics and local government. If I do eventually run for office or pursue a local government position, would a degree in social work put me at a disadvantage from other candidates? #social-work #politics #political-campaigns #government #local-government

Is Social Work a Good Major??

I want to help people... I love helping people. However, with a major in social work and doing that full time, will I have enough of an income to pay off my college debt? Or would it be better to major in something else and then volunteer to help people? I would love to help people full time, but I also want to make sure that I have enough money for a comfortable life. #social-work #volunteering

Need career guidance for a counseling career

I am a currently a sophomore marketing major. My own experience with mental health makes me want to inspire others and help them live happily. I hope to apply for mental health counseling, family and relationship therapist, social work master (even to a phd counseling psychology.) My biggest worries are whether my outgoing and lively personality could handle so many negative feelings and whether I could actually help them... I love advocate, interview, deeply connect with people. I am ok with marketing jobs but hate the corporate environment. I want to inspire, promote, cause change.. However, I cannot find any other alternative ways to directly impact people's lives except counseling careers. Do you think I need to change major to psychology (only able to do so at the end of my junior year) and continue follow my "dream"? #career #psychology #education #career-counseling #social-work #counseling #life-coach #mental-health-counseling

How intensive is the study towards becoming a Social Worker or CYW in the education industry?

I was just curious as one of my options were to go into social work. I found social work to be an opportunity to help children in today's society, especially with the amount of mental health issues rising. I know that social work requires a lot of placement in order to gain experience. I believe that social work is based on many interpersonal skills, but how much schooling is needed? Is this a job that will rise in the industry as we grow as society? #education #social-work

What are the negative aspects of graduating from university early?

I plan to attend the University of North Texas in the fall. After going over a course plan that I found for my major, social work, I realized that I will not be spending 4 years there. I have accumulated enough AP and dual credit hours to graduate in 3 years if I take 15 hours each semester. My question is, what drawbacks do you think I will experience not spending 4 years in a university? Will I be less prepared to work in the same settings as my peers that took 4 years? Am I less likely to complete my degree if I aim to finish in 3 years rather than 4? I would really like to hear the cons, drawbacks, and overall negatives of this decision. #college #university #social-work #undergraduate #graduation

What does a first job represent?

I'm a high school senior looking for a part time position as my first job. Should a first job like this be focused on whatever is available, or should it connect to the career I want to pursue in the future. For context, I want to work as a macro social worker in the future, but there are few part time jobs open to someone with my limited resume that connect to that.
