Which careers will allow me to travel the world?

I am a college student, living in a small town and never really going out of this small town. One of my biggest aspirations is being able to wear a suit, fly first class, work with new people in brand new locations. #business #career #job-search #travel #international-experience

Experience on studying abroad

I am due to graduate this summer of 2017 (hopefully!) and I am considering a masters. I have stayed at a local university to complete my degree and have been considering studying abroad for my masters. I am considering Germany or Spain and I am from England. I was wondering if anyone could share their experience on studying abroad and if you enjoyed it and just how you found it in general. Was it hard to handle? Was adapting to culture hard? Is the language barrier troublesome? Is it hard being so far away from home for a long time? Thanks in advance! #travel #study-abroad #masters-degree #traveling #living-abroad #graduating

How do I know if studying abroad is for me?

I have never traveled alone or been away from my family for more than a few weeks. However, I love to travel and I am considering getting a degree in Europe or Australia. These programs are also so much cheaper than USA programs and have less requirements. Yet, I am worried that I might feel 'culture' shock as their educational systems are quite different from USA. #college #graduate-school #college-bound #travel #study-abroad #academic-advising

When choosing what you want to do, is a stable income more important than chasing after what you actually want to do?

All my life, I was constantly encouraged to follow the path of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. I never felt queasy at the sight of blood, I find the heart to be the most interesting organ in the body, and I even would watch surgery videos on YouTube from Mayo Clinic. Although this may have seemed as an ideal option for me because I can help others and have a stable income, reality struck me. I researched how many years it takes and how much of one's life must be put into the work to be successful. I don't feel that I am passionate enough to dedicate my life to surgery. Also, I realized how much I don't really enjoy my math and science classes. I always wanted to do something in the writing industry, history, or have a job that allows me to travel/explore. My family is concerned that if I follow my heart, I will not be able to sustain myself. What is more valuable? Can there realistically be both? #career #medicine #career-counseling #career-choice #career-path #travel #career-change #job-search-strategies

Gap Years: Are they worth the hype?

The New York Times discussed Malia Obama's contribution to a 'growing and expensive' gap year trend. Is a gap year a good decision for students who want to learn what life has to offer or is it just a waste of time? Taking into account that a student would do some type of volunteering or contribute to society in a way during the gap year. #college #volunteering #travel #college-applications #work-life-balance #gap-year

What is it like to pursue a teaching career in another country?

I am a high school student currently interested in taking up education as a future career. It was a difficult choice to pick this career path because although I always wanted to be a teacher, my father refuses to allow me to take up a low-paying job. I decided to look into teaching outside of the United States because my work could potentially reach out to many more people and have a greater effect in a country where few have educational opportunities. As working abroad may have a more powerful message than working in the States, this could help me succeed in changing my father's mind. This is because although I won't make a lot of money, I will be changing the world, one student at a time. I would like to know how taxing it is financially, physically, mentally, spiritually, etc. to work as a teacher in another country. I plan on working with an international teaching program, like EPIK (English Program In Korea), but am interested in other programs that could put you anywhere in the world. How challenging is it to live and work abroad as a teacher? #career #teaching #student #travel #international #working-abroad #living-abroad #international-career

Post College Plans

In three years I will have a bachelors degree and I am interested in pursuing a Masters at graduate school. Many people are advising me to take a year or more off in between. However, I am worried that if I do so I will not have the drive to go back to school. I would like to see Europe and backpack through the country, should I hold off on a trip until after graduate school? I want to do as much as I can, travel wise, before I begin my career and settle down. Do you think it would be a negative or positive choice to take some time off in between school? #graduate-school #travel #masters #gap-year

Is experience more valuable than a degree when seeking a job?

I have heard people say that their degree does them little good because the employer doesn't want to hire people with no experience. On the other side, some have told me that the "piece of paper" will help you out immensely. I am wanting to know the balance between these. #travel #ceo
