What career(s) should I look into?

Hello, I'm Kylie. I'm currently a sophmore, and feel like I should start looking into careers. Though, I don't really know where to start. I do know what I do want in a job, just not very sure what jobs meet my needs. I would love some guidance on where to start! I know I am asking for a lot in a career, and those wants may not be very realistic. Please be honest with me if my dreams aren't very possible to achieve, or if I'm asking for too much. I won't get offended. -First, I love to design and problem-sovle. I'm the type of person that needs to be always doing someting. I would love to hop into a career that allows me to work on something new everyday. I do have experience when it comes to graphic design, photoshop, etc. But, I feel like I should be working on something more "physical," something that I can touch and feel. I love to work with computers and computer programs, but to be able to also work on something more traditional would be nice. Though, when it comes to designing, I do need to be able to have some creative liberty. I thrive when I'm able to work independently, I can work within a team though, and can take critisism and suggestions. I'm an over-achiever, and love to challenge myself, so much to the point where I could probably say it's an addiction of mine. I love to throw myself into tough situations, or dive into a challenging question, and find a way to overcome them. I'm happiest when I have my brain thinking, questioning, pondering. -Second, I would love to have a flexible schedule. I sadly get burntout very easily, and need time to "cleanse my mind" if that makes any sense. -Third, if it's possible- I would love to have a salary that allows me to live comfortably in Los Angeles. I know that's a lot to ask for, but it's my biggest dream. I was born in LA, my whole family's from LA, I would love to move back. -Fourth, I struggle when it comes to communicating, negotiating, etc. I'm autistic, and have had a stutter my whole life, so do what you will with that information. A job that allows me to talk to coustomers and such probably isn't the best for me. I do love talking to people though, I just suck at it. It's a skill i've been working on, and hope it's something I can master down the road. -Fifth, lastly- Here's some interests of mine that I know could defenitley make a career out of, though don't know if they match me or my values. I love the concept of transportation, as well as urban planning. I also love architecture. I do have some other interests, though nothing I can make a career out of. I'm sorry for it being so long! And asking for so much in a career. I guess I just want to have some image of what I could be or do in the future. I don't want to finish high school, without a clue of what I want to do next. That makes sense, right? Be as brutally honest as you need to :)

I realized I strongly dislike my major. What should I do?

I started college three years ago as an Architecture major (my program is 5 years long). I dreamed to be an architect since I was around 8 years old, so I thought it would my ideal college major... but even after three weeks into my freshman year I realized it wasn't what I really wanted. My parents told me to finish freshman year because maybe I would actually like it. I finished that year and I still didn't liked it, but my parents basically forced me to keep going. Now that I'm already halfway through it, I realized I hate it (so much that, from being in the Dean's list, now I'm in the list of students on academic probation). I'd rather work as a cashier than doing this all my life. Obviously, my parents are not keen with the idea of me dropping out (They told me if I do it, they would disown me and I would be dead for them). Because of all this, I've been battling moderate depression and severe anxiety this last 4 months. I know the semester is almost over (I start finals tomorrow and have no idea of what I will do, because I can't even study without feeling bad). In all this time, the only classes I've actually liked are the ones related to writing and to history. So I told my parents that I want to change majors, and either be an English major or an Art History one. They told me those degrees were worthless (As much as Architecture I guess...) and that I'm immature and stupid for even thinking about it. I guess I gave them so much hope as a child (I skipped 2 grades, used to be a spelling be and participate in math decathlons), that when I chose Architecture as my major they were a little disappointed and now that I want to change it, I've disappointed them a lot more. So, what do you think I should do? Should I drop out/change majors? or should I get my degree in Architecture? #english #majors #architect #choosing-a-major

I am currently an architecture student with a planned graduation in 2022, what does the #COVID19 recession mean for the job market in regards to architecture? What colleges have good architecture programs?

I am currently a sophomore in high school and I am starting to look into some college options. I am currently thinking of being an architect. I like residential architecture but I'm not sure if that is the specific kind of architecture I would like to do. I haven't really thought about whether I would like to stay close to home or not, so I've been looking for the best architecture programs that colleges offer anywhere throughout the United States.

Do civil engineers enjoy their job?

Is it also worth majoring in civil engineering if you want to major in engineering as it pays a lot less than the other choices? I want to do architecture based building with homes and residential properties, but some people have said civil engineering is a better pathway to get to this although I have also heard that civil engineering can tend to be very boring and people end up building a lot of boring infrastructures like bridges, roads, and hangers. What do you think?

Should I be an architect?

I really want to be an architect but I’ve heard a lot of bad things about it. I really like buildings and designing cool ones but I am debating if I should just chose a different career to do. I am 13 and I enjoy doing art, i like literature, and history but I do not like math or science. I’ve heard architecture is not a good profession but I want to do it however I still wanna live a stable life. As much as I would love to do architect, I don’t wanna be in a financial crisis. Thank you! -CS

What should I become a planner, interior designer, or architect?

I'm in 8th grade and I have a passion for art, design, and creating spaces. Urban planning is the most interesting to me, but I'm not sure about the political side of it. Interior design also is fascinating, but I would if I'm not creative enough. Lastly, I love architecture but I am not the best at math and I wonder what daily work is like. Any other career ideas? I know I want to go into those kind of field areas. Perheaps a civil engineer? This is stressful..
