How do companies view military service?
When hiring, do companies view military service as a good or bad thing? If it it a good thing, what branch looks best? I have no work experience! How can I acquire a job?
It's time to pull my own weight, yikes! Recently I applied to various famous franchises online, the only problem is, they never responded :( . With no success online I decided to visit a "now hiring" good ol' McD's and ask for an application. I completed the application and returned it to a manager. After waiting for a couple weeks, still no response. I even went back to the McDonald's, gave them a hello, and "showed initiative" as my mom suggested. Still without response I feel quite discouraged (a big no no in the job hunting process). I've been told getting a minimum wage job for a kid like me would not require a resume, but I feel like it may be necessary to create one in order to land a job since I have no work experience (but plenty of volunteerism and extra curricular commitment!). Any tips for creating a resume? Whats the best way to go about landing a job? How did *you* land your first job? #resume #hiring #first-job

What are the essential skills you need to possess when on the search for a job/career. How would I develop and practice these skills as a high school student?
Many have started their job/career lives during high school, whether it be a summer job or necessary part-time work during the school year. Many high school students have also gone out to look for a job, but have come back without a single "You're hired!". I would like to know if there are certain skills that would help you knock out that interview or keep an employer interested in you. Of course certain skills aren't easily obtained and will unfold through practice and use. Why is it important to not use the exact same words on your resume, especially for different jobs you're applying to? and what would be the best way to keep searching for jobs after not getting hired for the first few times? When putting in effort to satisfy your boss and the company, is it also important to make sure it's fulfilling you as well? How would you know if you've found a job that approaches not only the company's qualifications but also your own? (ex. time management, distance, pay, etc)
When you're fresh out of college is it best to work for a while, travel, or go straight to Grad school?
I'm curious about the current state of the job market as it pertains to the hiring rate of students fresh out of college with their first Bachelor's degree. Do most employers favor new grads who've worked while in school? If so, how do students who have little work experience due to being committed full-time to their education go out and get jobs after graduating? Also, from the perspective of grad schools, do they prefer students fresh out of undergrad or is it best to work for a year or two before applying to grad schools so your resume is more substantial? Do they care about your resume or just your academic track record? #graduate-school #college-admissions #job-search #college-jobs #recruiting #hiring #employment #job-market #job-application
