How should I figure out my major?

I've never known what I wanted to do or pursue career wise. I took psychology and sociology in my first year and a half at college, and I liked them, but I don't know what exactly I want to major in. I wouldn't mind studying more into sociology but I also want a career with a pretty decent earning as well. I detest any mathematics, but I am quite fond of English, writing, history, sociology, psychology, communications, and philosophy. Quite a lot, I know, but those are the only classes I've taken that I'm interested in. I just want to find my path and what I like before I waste my money and time on other classes that won't benefit me. #psychology #career-counseling #communications #writing #english #sociology #history #philosophy #undecided #college

I'm a senior in college and I'm an English major with a professional writing minor. What subject teacheables of teachers are in the rise for hiring in the education system?

I am a senior in High School, I am looking into pursuing music education. If my plans do not go well at first, I will pursue a major in English. My guidance counsellor and other teachers have told me French is one of the easiest ways to get hired into a school board system - in Canada specifically. Since, it is one of our official and mandatory classes. I might decide to minor in French, and see how it goes. I'm not sure how much I want to do French. I do enjoy the language and I love it. It's just a matter of teaching it to kids who either don't care or do on a secondary level or not. Regardless, what seems more of a compact teacher? What's the best Undergrad major for Law School based on my strengths?

I've always loved psychology and how people think, the criminal justice system, crime scenes, and all that exciting stuff. I'm always asking questions about why things happen, why people do the things they do. I thought about psychiatry but the amount of schooling that requires kind of made me change my mind. Ultimately, I want to help people out of tough situations and also represent people whose voices can't be heard alone.. so, with that being said, what would be a wise major for me? A few side notes; I hate math and chemistry, anything related to equations or numbers. Writing and reading are probably my biggest strengths academic wise, writing comes easy to me. I'm very much a people person, I love kids and animals. And I'm understanding of sensitive subjects. Also, what type of lawyer or specialty would you suggest based upon this info? Thanks 😊 #college #psychology #law #lawyer #writing #english #law-school

Double major dilemma

As of right now, I am currently an English major finishing up my first semester in college. I really love my major(it was changed from marine science) and I'm so excited to continue on with it and see where it takes me. That being said, I am a little worried about being able to pay off my student loans due to the risk of a very low salary. Because of that, I have been debating a second major in mathematics and then also minor in actuarial science. I truly love math and think I am quite good at it. For that reason, I think I will be able to handle how different these majors are. I suppose my dilemma is knowing if this is a poor decision. To an extent, these majors will compliment each other due to the need to write proposals. However, I am curious as to whether this will hurt or help me get a job? Can I get a job focusing solely on either of the two majors? For example, can I get a job as an editor using the English side of my degree or will I be in a worse position due to the mathematics side being more prominent? I really have a passion for both of these majors, I am just so afraid of making the wrong decision. This will be a lot of work and I want it to pay off and give me a wide variety of careers to pick from. #college #career #college-major #career-counseling #english #double-major #actuarial-science #actuarial
