Hey! I'm interested in being a Politician or at the very least a Journalist.

How would you start beginning the process of becoming a good speaker and a great Journalist. I was thinking about starting off by maybe starting off getting on a Podcast and speak whatever comes to mind that way. Any recommendations?

Why is there so much disconnect between public educators and education administrators?

#teaching seems like such a great career, and so does being an ed administrator, but with the modern-day "common core", "no child left behind" mentality, it ends up putting so much stress and pressure on teachers that does not translate into better student performance. What's worse is that teachers and #administrators rarely find common ground on how to move forward, thus teachers voices are the ones least heard (even though administrators are the ones with power to make necessary changes.) I have always wanted to be involved in #education-administration and try to address the disconnect between the front-end #educators and the back-end ed admins, but surely there are many who have gone into #ed-admin wanting to bridge this gap as well. Is a career as an education administrator really where I could make the impact that I want to make? Are there legitimate reasons that ed admin fails to advocate for teachers, for students, for reasonable standards & improvements in #education that align with reality? I realize these issues are systematic and complex, but will I be caught up in too many politics & power-struggles to make any real difference for *students*? #teacher #aministration #politics #standardized-testing #policy #leadership

As a student of Politics, I want to pursue a career in helping others. How do I go about getting into the industry?

I'm a student studying Politics and I want to pursue a career where I can help others. Ideally, I would like a role where I research and use the information to influence policy. The only problem is I have no real-world experience. Are there any good ways to get experience? I am looking at volunteering opportunities currently. #politics #research # #volunteer #policy #government

Should I include my political volunteering in my applications and resumes?

I am an Executive Intern for the Young Republicans of Bexar County, and I do a lot of work for them as well. I was selected to be an intern despite only being in high school which is very honorable. However, with bias against conservatives on college campuses, will "liberal" colleges look down upon my work as an EI for the Young Republicans when they would commend the same work if I volunteered for the Young Democrats? Should I even include it on my resumes and applications? #politics #colleges #collegeapplication #applications #resume

Looking for answers about helpful college majors and classes for lawyers.

As I begin my college career in the fall, I am wondering if there are any helpful classes or majors that work well in law careers. I am aware that there is no major requirement for law school, but wondering if there are any particular classes/majors that lawyers still find helpful in their careers. #political-science #politics #community-management

Tips for choosing between law and psychology careers

Hi, my name is Abby! I am a junior in high school and have to start thinking about how I want to spend the rest of my life making money (fun!) and would really appreciate some help. Some of the paths I am considering are psychology because I love the psych classes I have taken, and law because the subject has always just interested me. Some of the careers I have considered within these two paths are: corporate law, in-house counsel, district attorney, human resources, forensic psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. If you have experience in these fields I would deeply appreciate it if you could answer some of my questions: - How has your experience been? - Do you find your job rewarding? - How deep was your student debt and did you/will you take a long time to pay it off? - What did you major in during college? -What path did you take to get your job? -Is it hard to get a job in your field? - How many years of schooling did you need? Was it worth it? - How did you know this is your calling? - Is your job fun, at least as far as work goes? -Do you make enough to live a comfortable life? -How or what is your work environment? -Do you have downtime? Here are some things about myself. If you have time to look over this list and tell me if you think your job and I are compatible, that would be appreciated. - I love structure. Knowing what to do and when to do it is what I live off of. - I am a people person. I love working in teams, and when feeling bold, I am open to taking a leadership position. - I'm one of those random people who really like paperwork. Like, a weird amount. It probably has to do with the structure thing. - I like to do research and writing papers. Yet again, probably me and my weird liking towards the structure. - This is not super important, but I would like to start a family one day. A solid 9-5 job is IDEAL but if I was super passionate about something I would make it work. - Social-Cognitive Psych is my favorite class -I read for two hours everyday Thank you all very much for your time. Any amount of information is super helpful and appreciated. #law #money #law-school #politics #politicalscience #lawyer #inhousecounsel #generalcounsel #psychology #iopsychology #organizationalpsychology #industrialpsychology #humanresources #forensicpsychology #exams #corporatelaw #team #psychologist

Is it better to study journalism/communications or Academic subjects to become a Journalist?

So basically, the dilemma here is that I have recently decided to try to become a journalist, and I was wondering if it would be better to do an academic university degree (e.g. international relations, politics etc.) to build a broad foundation of knowledge and then transition to journalism, or to directly study journalism/ communications in order to equip myself with the skills/ techniques required for journalism? Any help would be very much appreciated! #july20 #journalism #communications #reporting #internationalrelations #politics #academicVSvocational #career

What are some jobs related to social justice?

I've come to realize that my only passion is social justice, especially for lgbtq and poc. I do also have a desire to help people and a knack for writing. However I feel like I would not thrive on one-on-one work like becoming a councelor because it feels too personal and too much pressure, like I would be devestated if I failed someone. Do you think I could be satisfied with some specific career in politics, law, psych research, or something that helps spread awareness? #social-justice #lawyer #psychology #politics #political-science #law #criminal-justice

What are my career options for a double major of advertising/public relations and political science?

I am entering my junior year of college with a major in advertising/public relations and a minor (possible double major) in political science. I am active with several nonprofit organizations that deal with issues in public health, such as gun violence prevention and climate change. I am an avid writer and reader, having completed multiple internships in copywriting and social media. I am looking for a way to combine these two passions in a way that best suits me. #college-major #college #communication #career #politics
