If I have a BS in Psychology, will I be accepted for a MS in Ecology ?

I am a US citizen living in Australia, I have been out of school for 2 1/2 years, and I would like to go back to school to earn a masters in Ecology or a related field. I would like to know if this is possible in the USA, but I want to go to school in Central Europe. Would a foreign school in Austria or Germany accept me for an ecology program if my Bachelor's is in a different scientific field. #science #graduate-school #ecology #study-abroad #Austria #Germany #environmental-science #masters #Europe

All my life I have longed to protect nature, but what careers would allow me to do this?

I have never been a confident speaker, nor have I ever desired learning about laws or policies, but I love to be outside working with my hands. What are the rewards of pursuing a double major?

I am passionate about environmental issues, and would like to use business to become a part in solving that problem. My university does not have a "green" business degree as some schools do. At this point I am intending to pursue a business major with an environmental science minor. I am curious if there would be any real benefit to pursuing a double major instead or if I should just plan to go on to a masters in environmental studies once I have a business foundation. #business #environment #environmental-science #double-major

Is my major too specific to get a good job in the future?

I am going into wildlife and conservation biology at URI and I am worried that there wont be that many jobs available to me once I get my degree. I know that there are always jobs for environmentalist majors in general - but maybe my major just isnt practical. #struggle #environmental-science

How Did You Figure Out What Your Dream Job Was?

I'm a high school senior who has wanted to be a veterinarian ever since middle school, but after shadowing every veterinarian in my area, I realized that I did not want to be a veterinarian anymore. Since then, I have changed my "career path" numerous times. I thought I wanted to be a wildlife biologist, a photographer, a dancer, a choreographer, a systems architect, a lawyer, an environmentalist, a teacher, a surgeon, and more. I just can't decide on anything and due to the fact that I have my 2-year AA degree (through PSEO) my generals are all completed so I really only need to do 2 more years of college for my intended major, but I don't know what it is yet. Any advice would be appreciated! #stressed #help #veterinarian #dance #choreography #wildlife-biology #environmental-science #systemsarchitect #surgeon #teacher #lawyer #photography #pseo

What are good careers surrounding the geology field

Geology has always caught my interest because rocks and the earth have fascinated me. Just all the different sizes and colors they give and the sound you can hear from them, the ways they resonate with different materials when they come in contact or tap each other. #geology #environmental-science #rocks #landscaping

How do you choose between a career path that you love, and a career path that you feel is important.

I am a junior in high school, and I'm not sure if i want to pursue a career in art, or in environmental conservation. Art is something I've always been good at and enjoy, but I'm also interested in nature and love the outdoors. Environmental careers seem like they're more important to me, but I'm not sure which direction to take and if my goals in that field are realistic. What are some ways you can build confidence in public speaking, specifically for teaching?

I have around 7 years experience (or so) in tutoring, and I am pretty comfortable educating individuals and very small groups. However, I am considering pursuing an educators license and becoming a science teacher. I am not very confident in speaking in front of a group of more than 5 people at a time, I have tried classes, workshops and working individually with my professors to attempt to get better at this skill with no success. Are there other ways to boost confidence in this skill? Is this just an issue that will eventually get better in time? Are there teachers and professors on the site that had problems with public speaking but overcame them? If so, how? What are some ways to become active (more) in the field of entomology?

I am a student in environmental sciences with a huge passion for pollinators, specifically bees and butterflies. I currently am the leader for the campus pollinator and native species garden, I have helped a variety of individuals build these sort of gardens from scratch, attended every lecture and met with a variety of individuals (from my area and outside) who are entomologists. However, I cannot seem to find any projects (outside citizen science, of which I am active as well) or ways to further my involvement in this topic in the state of Ohio. Are there resources I am missing, or are there other ways that I could get involved that I am missing? Thank you! #entomologist #environmental-science #gardening #beekeeping

Is pursuing a master's degree or higher worth it?

I currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, and I originally was going to pursue a master's and a Ph.D. after its completion. However, in speaking to advisors, classmates and a couple of individuals in related fields, I have become hesitant about my original plan. With all the issues currently going on with graduate programs, and being told that some of the jobs I have interest in do not require higher than what I am pursuing, I am asking if I still should apply for them? And, if it would actually do me good, even if I become over-qualified. Thank you! #graduate-school #environmental-science #masters-degree #phd #higher-education

Does having experience outside of your preferred career field do anything to you?

I do not have a lot of experience (job or otherwise) in the field that I am currently pursuing, however I do have experience in areas such as working in a museum, teaching and working in the arts (glass blowing, painting, sewing..). Is there anyway to incorporate those skills in the environmental field? Can I place these as skills I have on my resume? Thank you! #environmental-science #experience #resume-writing #museums #art
