What has your career done to help change your life for good? For the worse?

This is what I believe is crucial when choosing a career. Doing a job that pays a lot that you hate might not be as good as doing a job you love with lesser pay, and the way your career affects your life is a huge element to your overall drive and mindset. #career-choice #career-path #experience #public-relations #decision-making #emotional #interactions #observational

Is it true that balancing wisdom and knowledge really contributes to a strong character?

I read an article on Forbes called "Why Most People Will Never Achieve The American Dream" and the writer mentioned that many leaders "don't balance knowledge (the head) and wisdom (the heart)." And it's not just what you know it's what you DO with what you know. #business #management #entrepreneurship #public-relations

How common is it for public relations specialists to move from different organizations during their career?

A public relations specialist visited one of my classes to provide students a glimpse into his career life. One of the details I took notice was how much he moved from organization to organization after a few years. All my life, I was raised to believe in the notion of working at one company or organization for the entirety of my life. Hearing this from a professional was unusual. Comment your own experiences and thoughts on this commonality in the career. #SJSU #public-relations #career-advice

How do you handle or bounce back from a PR crisis?

As a PR major, should you always assume the worst of any situation in order to be prepared? I feel like we learn a lot about PR in school, but a lot of it is washed down and doesn't always sound as bad as it is. I would like to be prepared for real-life situations. #public-relations

Is journalism a dying breed?

I am a high school freshman and have always loved writing. I am currently involved with a journalism class in my high school where we produce on eight page newspaper every month. Starting in September 2016, I will be the new page editor for our Features page. My lust towards writing and journalism has grown vastly ever since I enrolled in this class and I know this is what I want to study in college and ultimately what I want to do with my life. My parents, on the other hand, are extremely skeptical about me wanting to pursue journalism in college. They believe that there is no money, let alone jobs available for aspiring journalists. They suggest that I go into a more practical field involving writing such as advertising or public relations. So... Is it true that if I study journalism in college there may not be a job for me after graduation? #journalism #advertising #author #writer #public-relations #youtube #online-journalism

I feel like I am stuck in the wrong major and how do I move forward?

I'm currently a sophomore in college pursuing Dietetics. I'm enrolled in Trigonometry, INTRO to chemistry, and I had to withdraw from Precalculus. I absolutely hate chemistry and I am struggling badly in it and in most of the classes that come with the major. Also, part of me chose this career because I felt like it would please my parents and it would be beneficial. I've always loved public speaking and writing so my alternative major would be Public Relations. I just want some insight on how to move forward with this semester and advice if you were ever stuck in the wrong major. Thanks! #public-relations #college #college-advice

What kind of classes or internships would be helpful to take if I want to do PR in the music industry?

It took me a few years to find out what I wanted to study in college while I was at a community college, taking a lot of different classes to see what interests me the most. I really liked mass communication classes and found out about public relations and think it would be a fun career path. Music is also a big part of my life and I'm a fan of music and think I pay attention to the industry. My dream job would be doing PR for a music label or artists/groups because I will get a bit of each. Do you think it would be helpful to take some kind of music class (history of or business wise) to give me some of the skills and education I need to do well in this job. For internships, would a PR firm internship be better to start so I get the exposure of how to do PR in the real world or just try to go straight into the music field? Thanks for your time! #public-relations #music-industry #college #internships #music-recording

What are some potential careers/jobs available for students with a major in Public Relations/Communications, specifically in PA?

In college, I plan to major in Public Relations this Fall in the state of Pennsylvania! I know it is difficult to find a job in today's society, and I'm aware the rate of jobs available for college graduates have been decreasing over time. However, I have hope that something can change. I'd personally like to be the change! With that said, I'd really appreciate knowing what careers are available for those with a degree in Public Relations/Communications, and specific organizations I may be able to work with to make a positive impact, after graduating. #communications #public-relations #non-profits
