What secondary schools have the best or most acclaimed Technical Theatre Design and Production department

I plan on majoring in that field, I want a school that would grow my education instead of using my education as an excuse for free labor. I have a great standing knowledge on the matter, I want to earn expertise in this field. A school that starts with their student already knowing the basics. #college #college-major #college-selection #majoring-in-theatre #theatre #theater #drama #performing-arts #stage-design #design #art #performance #production #theater-production

How does someone land a job on Broadway?

I work in technical theatre and I aspire to one day work on Broadway. After I earn my BFA I want to immediately start working. I want to know who to ask, who to call, who I need to know to land this dream job. I want to first just get a job running a show and prepping for shows and eventually be able to design for them. #theatre #techie #broadway #acting #actor #drama #performing-arts #performance #theater

As a theatre major, what do you do post graduation?

I'm studying acting, and unfortunately the odds of success after graduation can be hit or miss. What the heck do I do after I graduate? Their are many questions on how to obtain a manager, agent, publicist, lawyer. And which one is the most important. It is so easy to be taken advantage of. #theatre #performing-arts #art #artist #career

Technology and Performing Arts

My father has tried to tell me that the opportunities for Performing Arts majors (vocal - opera singer) are significantly reduced in this day of technology and that less people are going to live performance. I disagree, but maybe he has a point and there will be less opportunities than before. Thoughts? #opera #singing #performing-arts #technology

Is it possible to be behind the camera and in front as well?

I love acting, but I also have a big interest in filmmaking. What I'm wondering is if I pursue filmmaking, will that ever put me in a position to act? Or is it just one or the other? I know both are a hard place to get into, and I wouldn't mind some advice for that as well. #acting #voice-acting #performing-arts #film #movie #film-making #film-acting #motion-pictures-and-film

What if I want to have a job that supports and pays well, but that I genuinely like and have time to do things in my free time?

I have heard many stories of people having their dream jobs that pay, "big bucks," but then having these jobs take away a lot of time from their outside lives and take away time from things that are truly important to them, for example, family. I have also heard of people having jobs that pay extremely well, but it is not what they are interested in, or not their, "top choice," in what they would choose for their career. This is where I am conflicted for when I start to make these decisions. I want to know what different careers there are and how well they will support me, but also how much time they could potentially take away, or the values that are most important to me, such as family. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that I will not work hard or not put my all in because I do not want to waste my time on a beneficial career, but these kind of decisions, I think, would be easier to make if we knew all of the certain criteria that is associated with each choice. #conflicted #travel #doctorate-degree #neonatology #business #hospital-and-health-care #performing-arts #art #marine-biology #biology

What is a theater college like?

I ask this because I had no idea what it was going to be like going into high school knowing no one. The high school I went to for Freshmen year was a school the was for 6-12 grade so most people in my classes knew each other. I was lucky to go to a theater school so almost everyone was nice. I am just hoping college would be a bit different than high school. #college #theatre #performing-arts #theater
