Where are the best places for conducting scientific research?
I hope to enter the field (likely along the lines of genetic or cellular/molecular biology research) after college; however, I know that tons of others are hoping to do the same. I have also heard that scientific research is being less and less funded in the United States. With that reality looming over my head, I'm already worrying about if I'll get a position that I will enjoy and be able to survive financially with- and I'm only a freshman! Are there particular areas of the country where it's easier to make it as a researcher? Or are there other parts of the world I could set my sights on? #research #stem #women-in-stem #women-in-science #science #life-sciences #biology #genetics #cell-biology #molecular-biology

How do Independent Research Positions or Projects Work at University?
I recently completed and presented a project for a class in which my professor was over the moon about. After class, he suggested that next semester I could turn this project (it was a GIS campus project, in which I worked with Services and various other departments to complete) into an independent study. He was not very specific on the details, so I was wondering, how do typical independent research project courses work? How does the grading work? If the topic proves unsuccessful, does that mean I fail? #gis #university #courses #project #research

Thanks in advance! #psychology #laboratory #resume #research #graduate-school
Should I stay or should I go?
I am a junior in college studying psychology. I plan to go to graduate school to attain a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. I have heard people say that it is very difficult to get into clinical psychology programs as a student right out of college because they want their students to have some experience in the field (i.e. research, clinical experience, etc.) Is this true? What do professionals in the field advise I do? In other words should I take a chance and apply to graduate schools right out of college or should I wait 1-2 years and gain that extra "experience" it seems people are saying I should have? #Graduateschool #phd #psychology #clinical-psychology #research
