How can you best find internships, jobs, networking opportunities and etc in college Is it mainly by asking your professors and other staff members?

Wow, it has been way too long since I've used this. Well, here are some updates about myself: I'm sixteen now, I just finished 10th grade at JD Clement Early College, and I've decided that I want to major in English and minor in journalism. I actually joined Hillside's theatre department and jazz band (playing the guitar), and I was second-cast (behind a senior) for a main role in Seussical: the Musical as Jojo. I'm mainly invested in my creative writing now, and have a few manuscripts of stories that I've already finished—although I will continue doing theatre and jazz band. I know that I may not make much money from publishing books, and I've decided that I would also like to find a job that is still related to writing, even if it isn't fictional writing. Should I just talk to people in the English department?

Should i pursue- finance with accounting or economics or just straight finance?

I am a Year 13 student trying to decide whether I should pursue a degree in Finance & Accounting, Finance & Economics, or just Finance. I want a stable, decent-paying career, but I do not want anything too high stakes or high pressure like investment banking or trading. I am also not aiming to go to the very top 1% of universities. I have an interest in the legal side of things, but I know that career progression is generally easier to navigate in the finance sector. I am currently confused about whether to combine finance with accounting or economics. When it comes to finance, I am really drawn to the risk management side something that might be considered a bit boring, but pays well and offers good stability. On the other hand, I also really love the development and policy modules within economics. However, I want to avoid the heavy statistics side of the subject. Given these specific preferences, I am stuck on which option is the right pick for me.

Is it really worth pursuing a career in the Creative Industries in the Philippines?

Literally just the question above, especially as someone who only has a year left before entering college, i've been weighing my decisions for courses and career decisions lately. I want to pursue Arts, that's for sure. I initially planned for Architecture but now I'm thinking of entering a college that offers Creative Industries Management, I learned more about myself thanks to my grade 11 experiences and recently too that I prefer leadership roles and art directions too. I like bringing other peoples' and mine's ideas to life. I like managing and also am in love with organizing and managing. But of course then again, it's the Philippines, yes we're rich in arts but we're also definitely not rich when it comes to economics, especially since there's still that common idea of arts having nowhere to go and how its path leads to no money and stable living at all.

What career opportunities can a degree in Quantitative Economics lead to, and what master’s programs combine economics and mathematics?

Hello, and thank you so much for this opportunity. I am currently a student studying Quantitative Economics at Gulu University in Uganda. While I enjoy aspects of the course, I am not fully certain about the types of careers or jobs this degree can lead to after graduation. I would really appreciate guidance on possible career paths, industries, or roles that graduates in Quantitative Economics usually pursue. Could you please advise me on suitable master’s courses or fields of specialization that combine economics and mathematics, because I enjoy analytical and quantitative work, and also offer good career opportunities? *Note: This question is asked anonymously by a learner

I want to go into dentistry, but I'm completely confused about the steps to become a dentist.

I’m a sophomore and rising junior in 2026–27, and my graduation year is 2028. By my senior year, I will have enough college credits to equal about two years of college. I’ve wanted to become a dentist for a while, but every time I research the steps, it feels complicated. Granted, I knew it would be hard, but I still feel confused. Right now, the steps I think I should take are: graduate from high school, go to college, major in biochemistry, join a dental program or do shadowing through my college if possible, graduate from college, and then go to dental school. I know that sounds choppy, which is why I’m trying to understand the process better. With the economy the way it is, I don’t want to struggle financially as a student. I also don’t really like science, but I think that may be because of my past teachers or my attitude toward school in general. Even so, I’m very good at science and have gotten all A’s for as long as I can remember, so I know I can handle the classes. One thing I’m really confused about is what other dentists’ paths looked like and how they reached their careers. I saw a comment about a college in Illinois that lets students become dental hygienists first and then continue on to become dentists. That route interests me, but I feel like there may be other options or similar opportunities too. I’ve especially been looking at HBCU colleges. Howard caught my attention because it also has a dental program. I want to have my plan set out clearly so I know what my next steps should be. If you haven’t noticed, I’m definitely a planner. Please help, and if you can share any tips, I would really appreciate it.

at 18 what can i do if idk if college is for me/don't know what career I want?

I think that college isnt really for everyone and my mom has been constantly talking about my older cousins who graduated as plastic surgeons. I dont really have a passion for medical/health careers . My strongest subject in highschool was journalism , where I use Canva to creating fake magazines and ads for companies like Pepsi or NYX. tbh, rn I'm learning how to do basic CSS/HTML, video editing, making Roblox assets. and I spent most of my highschool years on social media. But when picking a major or even a career, I hesitate because I just don't know what I want rn. Idk if I should stay in community college for another year (I'm freshman) or transfer straight to a far away college to avoid my parents. idk, I just don't feel like I'm having any options: transfer or drop out. also here are some side hustles I tried when I graduated but they sorta failed. e-commerce was hard bc every week a new product would rise and fall + ads were expensive, day trading was calm bc it depended on me and no one else but I had a 45% wr. I tried to learn about freelance brand scaleing bc it seemed similar to making stuff with Canva but quit cus I was confused. then I started doing freelance graphic design. I was super cautious bc of scams and one time I refused an actual client who offered $200. I tried doing clipping for streamers which paid a little but I enjoyed it. I tried getting into memecoins but they're very volatile and I couldnt tell which coins were trustworthy. I sometimes get very unique dreams and I kinda wanna turn it into a video game? also, another thing that might help me know what to do... apps on my phone. I have Roblox.sims, depop, Netflix, Instagram/TikTok, YouTube, capcut, Canva, discord, Pinterest my love, Uber. bank apps. ig that's it. if anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it! <3

As a student who is highly involved in leadership, academics, athletics, music, service, and communication, and who is interested in careers ranging from biomedical engineering and pediatric healthcare to psychology, PR, and marketing, how can I strategically determine which path genuinely aligns with my strengths, personality, purpose, and long-term fulfillment rather than just achievement or external success What experiences, habits, skills, and personal qualities should I focus on developing now to discern whether I am better suited for highly analytical STEM-based careers, people-centered service careers, or creative leadership-focused careers, while also avoiding burnout, maintaining strong character and faith, and positioning myself for meaningful impact and future success??

I’m a driven and creative 8th grader at Founders Classical Academy of Rogers who loves leadership, music, sports, and faith. I serve as Secretary of NJHS, participate in student council and choir, and play volleyball. I aspire to become valedictorian, attend a top university, and build a future where I can lead, inspire others, and honor Jesus through my talents and achievements. In the future, I hope to study Biomedical Engineering, pediatric nursing, pediatric psychology, or marketing. I also enjoy singing, songwriting, and reading.

I am looking into being an aesthetician, but I am not sure if I will be successful?

I am in high school and wanting to be an aesthetician, I already have a medical spa I can work at, and I am not planning on going to college, but I am planning on going to a beauty college. If you have experience with this, can you tell me how easy it is to be successful, get clients, and if I can even be successful only going to a beauty college like Clary Sage or Paul Mitchell or if there are better schools. I have many questions but mainly I am unsure If this path will work out or if I can even make good money not being able to do filler or Botox since I won't have a medical degree, but I love aesthetics.

How to measure if you have a solid foundation?

To all who supported me from the previous thread, I finally made it in my dream internship. However, I realize how very shaky my foundation is. I have so so much to learn and it will take time but I don't have the time to learn everything from scratch. Is there any way to measure if you have a solid foundation? Should I go from reading books? take courses? bootcamp?
