Internship

I am pursuing bachelor of computer applications. I have to do a summer internship for a month for my academics. Since I did not got a tech internship for such a short period of time , I decided to do an internship provided by a college. The internship I am doing is not related to technical wok. It is a marketing research intern. In internship I am doing marketing research as well linkedin marketing. My question is since it is not related to my work field, still I have to invest my time , what useful things I should ask for to learn and practice. As well in linkedin marketing what are the industry useful things I should learn?

How do we network to professionals or hiring managers?

I don't have Linkedin Premium so what I do is connect and send a personalized message. Is it rude if I do this formula: (salutation + small intro, where we met + directly question what I want to know from that professional)? OR do you prefer to (salutation + small intro, where we met + an open-ended question?)

What to say when reaching out connections on Linkedin?

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTION! Context: I came across a job posting in "X" department I'd like to apply and I know someone who works at that company in "Y" department. How to engage more audiences on Linkedin?

To all professionals reading this post, thank you for your precious time! I hope all is well on your end! :) Context: I like to use Linkedin to look for jobs and connect with like-minded people. However, my posts don't usually generate a lot of views. I don't know how LinkedIn algorithm works behind the scene, but I believe there must be some tricks people use to generate traffic (hashtags or tagging influencers) Questions: 1. What are some other useful tips to engage more audiences (or even recruiters) on Linkedin? 2. How to become a content creator ? (some people post about their job searching experience and received over 1k likes & dozens of comments?! jaw-dropping) #linkedin #career #HR #recruiters #technology #algorithm #writer #influencer #contentCreator #strategy #consulting #careeradvice #professionals

Is there a cut-off for relevant information on resumes on Linked In, or should you include everything?

**For everyone who doesn’t have a LinkedIn and is reading this, I’d advise you to make one right now! It helps a lot, and even just making one and adding new things to it helps so much! LinkedIn is getting increasingly more popular with both employers and job-seekers. My university highly suggests making a LinkedIn, and offers tons of workshops and presentations to urge students to get… linked in (pun most definitely intended). On Linked In, there are options for including accomplishments, projects, volunteer experience, and more. Is it better to include everything you’ve done on Linked In, or just the more important or more interesting parts? I understand it's better for your profile to reflect a balanced profile, but this gets fuzzy at times. For example, I’m currently a freshman in college. Do you think I should still include volunteering experience from when I was in 9th grade? What kind of a filter should you use for discerning what to put on Linked In or any CV/resume? What if you don't have many things to write about--should you just only include necessary information or add small things to your profile as well? #career #resume #writing #resume-writing #linkedin #professional-development #professional-training #job-application

LinkedIn profile: Tailored towards a certain profession or master resume?

The reason I am asking this question is because I've seen a number of profiles on LinkedIn that seem to be master resumes and others that seem to be tailored. Recently, I have been starting to use LinkedIn more often and fixing and editing my profile. Does it depend on how you use LinkedIn? How can I effectively use LinkedIn if I do not have many real-life connections?

I am a high school student and I created a LinkedIn account two years ago but I do not have much on my profile and only 4 connections. I am in school most of the time, so I do not have a lot of work or volunteering experience. My town is small and not a lot of people I associate with have a LinkedIn so I cannot connect with them. Are there other things I can do on LinkedIn to make my profile somewhat decent? I know that I will make a lot more connections and use of LinkedIn once I start college, but is there anything I can do now? #linkedin #branding #professional-development #networking

What should I put on LinkedIn when I am an unemployed student looking to transition into the non-profit, human service, or social service sector from financial services?

Should I list that I am a student who is looking for job opportunities and looking to transition into the non-profit, human service, or social service sector from financial services in my headline? Should I mention the career which I aspire to have? In the experience section should I list my financial service experience, though it does not relate to my goals? What are some good websites, some specifics in searching for careers within your field of study?

A few friends have informed me that before I graduate to start applying for jobs. Few have told me to use websites such as indeed.com , linkedin.com , etc. I have been using indeed often but pretty much all requirements for the jobs I am interested in want experience of a few some odd years. Linkedin is awesome! It is something I highly recommend every college student should create and explore. I know it does not come quickly, so I've got to be patient but it is hard to find jobs. I am just hoping that one day I will be fortunate enough to have an interview and get one! #career #linkedin #websites

Improving Connections

What are some good ways to get connected with more people? I have a LinkedIn, but I feel like that isn't very good at expanding contacts yet. I've searched on the internet for people, but I couldn't find any people. I want to meet more people at different jobs and careers and understand what people are going through. When adults talk about "making connections" does it actually help you get a job? When has a connection ever helped you find a job, or advanced your career in any way?

Hi! My name is Anina and I'm a high school senior interning at CareerVillage. One of my best friends wants to major in Business and always talks about making connections. I don't see how having a bunch of acquaintances can help you with your career. If you meet someone once and give them your business card, is that actually going to really do anything for you? I don't even feel safe making a Facebook friend request if I don't know you for at least a few months. What do social media marketers do on a day to day basis?

I'm a rising senior and this year I'm going to be working on my college applications. I want to be a marketing major. For anyone who works in social media as a marketer can you please help me understand what social media marketers do on a day to day basis? Im on social media all the time and I see companies posting messages and advertisements all the time, but I do not understand exactly what it's like to be the person behind those company social media accounts. Do you sit at a desk all day long looking at social media sites? Is it very stressful and fast paced? Do you work on teams or alone?
