What is it like being a heavy equipment mechanic? what are the days off like? do you get PTO? where is the best location to work or be while you are in this field?

Do you get to spend weekends with your family? I have a daughter on the way so family time is important to me. Are there opportunities for work-from-home positions?

I want to go above and beyond. I want to be the person my coworkers turn to when they need help. How far should I go? Is it a waste of money to get a master's or doctorate? Is the return on investment worth the time and money I would have to put in to be successful?
