What is the best major for someone who wants to be an orthodontist?

I am a junior in high school and am looking into majors. I already know that I want to become an orthodontist, but I am not sure if I should choose a STEM major with a Humanities/Social Science minor or a Humanities/Social Science major and a STEM major? Also, what are good combinations of STEM and Humanities/Social Science majors? I am currently interested in chemistry and communications. #orthodontist #dentistry #choosing-a-major #college-minor #college-major

What is a good minor with a Public Relations major?

Deciding if I want a minor for my PR major or just stick with PR major. I can't minor in Advertising, Journalism or anything similar but the University won't let me do that. I'm definitely always liked event planning, and always been interested in art. #college-minor #public-relations #marketing

As someone who plans on majoring in music performance in college, what should I minor or double major in?

I am well aware of the fact that its going to be a struggle once I get into the world as a musician, so I am exploring other options to do in addition to music performance. Ideally, I would like to do something that is somehow connected to music, like audio engineering etc, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. #music #music-performance #college-major #majors #college-majors #choosing-a-major #college-minor #majors-and-minors #music-education #audio-engineering

How important is choosing a minor for political science?

I am a senior in high school planning on majoring in political science to possibly obtain a combined BA in Political Science with a Master's in Public Administration. I want to choose a minor that is highly employable but I am unsure which course to take. I love history and philosophy but I am not sure that those minors would be as useful as a minor in journalism or some type of economics or marketing. I also really like statistics but I do not think my college offers a minor in statistics. Overall, how important is choosing a minor? Do employers really look at them? #college #career #journalism #economics #college-minor #history #political-science

Can I major in zoology and then minor in elementary teaching? Or the other way around?

I have always had an interest in becoming a zoologist, basically since 6th grade, but I have also wanted to become a teacher for maybe first or second graders. My top choice would be zoology, but I am afraid that there won't be many jobs in my area, so I would like a backup plan. #college #teaching #college-major #biology #college-minor #guidance-counselor #zoology #elementary-education

If I take a Biology course, how to I transfer that to a Marine Biology course and have many Minors?

I'm a small town senior getting ready to graduate and I don't really have anyone to help me prepare for college. I know I have to get a bachelors in Biology and then somehow 'specialize' in Marine but I also want to major in oceanography and engineering. I want to get my PhD so that I can research on my own but don't know how to get there. #college #college-major #biology #graduate-school #architecture #marine-biology #college-minor #oceanography

Is it challenging to find a job in deaf education?

I am currently really interested in ASL studies and am looking into minoring in American-Sign Language in college along with a major in something in Health Science. I do not know much sign-language yet, but it's never too late to learn! I am just curious how hard it would be to find job opportunities if I really like the study and decide to focus my career on ASL. #college-major #education #college-minor #academic-advising #health-science #asl #deaf

Is it better or more valued to receive a degree with a minor or concentration?

I will be receiving my degree in Psychology with no minor nor concentration. I am wondering if I made a wise decision by doing so? I have noticed that a majority of my friends have graduated with either a minor or concentration and I never really understood what that meant. Could it just be like a little bonus/addition to the degree in which it may allow oneself to have more opportunity within a certain field than someone else could do without it? Looking back upon it now, I sometimes wonder if it would have been a more smart idea to at least minor in something. I just hope that for my sake it does not make things harder for myself to land a job. #college-minor #majors-and-minors

Is French a good language to become fluent in and minor in?

I want to pursue a career in law enforcement after I graduate from college. I know that being fluent in different languages increases your chance of being hired. I am looking forward to becoming fluent in college. However, people keep telling me French is not a good language to minor in because nobody is looking for people who speak French as a second language; they are looking for someone who speaks Spanish or Arabic. Is it true that having French as a second language and a minor won't increase my standing with future employers? #college #criminal-justice #law-enforcement #college-minor #language #french

Can my major be completely different from my intended minor?

I am currently a sophomore in a community college. This fall, I will be transferring to a four year university with a Junior standing. I am going to declare my major as Accounting. However, I have had an interest in teaching since I was young. I would like to minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (the school offers this particular minor) as I love to travel and would like to teach somewhere other than the US. Yet, I am worried that my advisers will try to steer me away from that path as they are totally unrelated. I'm not sure if adding this minor would steer me away from the path I need to take in order to graduate on time. Yet, this is something that I would really like to try in case Accounting really isn't for me. I would just like to hear some other opinions. Sincerely, A conflicted college student #college #major #help #college-jobs #college-minor #majors-and-minors
