Senior Project: Career Exploration or New Skill?

At my school, all the seniors have to do a senior project. As a Junior who is interested in majoring in film and animation, I do not know whether to make my senior project Career Exploration or a new skill. Which one would be best? A note: Students at my school have different opinions on this. Some say to do one over the other because the latter is less demanding than the former and vice versa. However, I want to make the most use of my senior project. #college-major #college-bound #animation #film-production #cinematography #seniorproject #personal-development

What is the best way to improve your public speaking skills?

Public speaking is basically my biggest fear in the entire world. I pretty much try dodging every obstacle possible when it comes to this topic. This is a strong phobia of mine that just eats away at me. If I were to practice speaking when I know I have a presentation or something big coming up which tactic and/or strategy would be the best to implement? I've heard that speaking to yourself in the mirror is key but I just can't see how that is major. Any other suggestions, please comment. I thank you very much! #public-speaking #presentations #projects #motivational-speaking #audience-development #personal-development

What is the best way to prepare for an interview?

Honestly, I have not been on many interviews within my lifetime. However, during my Principles of Professional Psych course at Kean University my class as a whole had to do a one on one brief interview with the professor in front of the entire class. The professor asked us a numerous amount of questions regarding our positions in which were applying for. I am just a little curious to know if this is very similar applying to the real world. I have experienced a few number of interviews at places such as Trinity Solar whereas it was not even a "real" interview. I walked in, took a seat, and was read my duties as to what I would be doing. I immediately was hired on the spot. No questions were asked regarding my background and why I was even there. This was so bizarre to me. Some feedback, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. #interviews #interviewing-skills #interviewing #interview-preparation #personal-development

How to improve spanish skills if there are few native speakers in my area?

I have been studying and learning Spanish since Kindergarten and am reaching a point that requires true interaction with native speakers to improve further. I regularly read the news in Spanish and as a result my reading skills are quite good but my speaking and listening skills are significantly lacking. Unfortunately, my area and particularly school are relatively lacking in diversity and there are very few native speakers with which to interact. I would love any suggestions or help, and I hope to one day be a fluent speaker of Spanish. #spanish #bilingual-spanish #personal-development

I cried in front of my parents, and told them that i dont want to b in meds, i dont want to b a doctor, i want to pursue design. And of course they turned me down. They said tht its okay if i dont want to b a doctro, if i finish meds i can do what ever i want. But honestly, i dont know i just feel so bad about it. I still go to college right now just bcause i dont want to see my mom dissapointed in me. It hurts me inside. I go ti college and study just for formality, and you know how hard meds is, my score falling even futher. Until i didnt pass my last exam. Now i feel im guilty, i waste time and my parents money, all i need to do is just study, and i dont even do it well. I feel lost, im afraid of my future. I used to b a straight A student but now im barely pass. What should i do? Help me. #college #psychology #college-major #clinical-psychology #psychotherapy #depression #personal-development

Should I choose the job I love or the job that makes me money?

Looking back at my 16 years of life, I would have never thought I would have to choose between doing what I love and making money. As a little girl, I always dreamed of being a teacher. I looked up to the agents of change at my school and appreciated all of the things they do for me and the other students. For as long as I remember, I have gone to the local dollar store to buy teacher supplies to use to teach my "students" at home. I kept all of my old workbooks and homework from previous years to reteach lessons to the invisible kids sitting on my bedroom floor. (I don't know if that's creepy or not) As a first-generation U.S. citizen from the Philippines, my father has always disapproved my love for teaching. He would tell me that he didn't come to America to work his butt off and raise a child that would make a lower salary for the rest of her life than he makes now. I have to say, I am smarter than the average student. I get all A's and the occasionally B once in a while as a high school student. I am in the top 10% of my class and in my opinion, I could definitely get a high-paying job in the future. My father knows this and doesn't want me to waste my intellect on becoming a teacher. I understand where he is coming from and would tell my own kids the same, but I believe my true calling is becoming someone who inspires, molds, and teaches others to strive to be the best they can be. I will be a junior in high school in the upcoming school year, so I don't have much time before I will attend college. Please let me know what you think it is best to do and add in any experiences that you have had regarding this life-changing choice. #money #career-choice #future-careers #financial-risk #life-choice #financial-planning #career-details #personal-development

Action drives us to push our limits and to grow. What are a couple things that I can take action on today to challenge myself and grow?

More of a philosophy question :) There are so many quotes about this concept "action": “Never complain, never explain, just let your actions speak for themselves.” – Benjamin Disraeli “The Superior man is modest in speech but exceeds in his actions.” – Confucius “There are no statues built to those who lived lives of mediocrity, and on the tomb of NO heroes will you find the words, he played it safe” – John Romaniello “Fortune sides with him who dares.” – Virgil “No man is more unhappy that he who never faces adversity. For he is not permitted to prove himself.” – Seneca There is something special behind it, and because I lack experience at 19-years-old, I wanted to ask you all what you have done in your life to challenge yourself through action? #business #leadership #philosophy #books #personal-development #growth
