What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I have had to overcome is self doubt. When I first started my career, I was always afraid to take chances or make my voice heard because I was scared of failing. I constantly had a voice in my head that told me I was going fail, and I wasn't good enough. This mindset stopped me from asking for more opportunities, speaking up, or going out of my comfort zone in any way. I realized I was shying away from opportunities and purposefully not challenging myself professionally simply out of worry/fear. I overcame this fear by taking baby steps to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone. I started by seeking out small leadership opportunities such as leading a meeting, volunteering to take on a responsibility for my team, or presenting my ideas. By doing this I was able to realize I am capable of taking on new tasks and being a leader. I still get these feelings of self-doubt every day, but I try not to let them stop me.
