As a candidate for a Master's in Literacy, I will need to do a case study. Which topic for my case study will help struggling readers the most?

In order to get a Master's in Literacy you must work on a case study and do research with the students you are currently teaching. Since the case study is a labor intensive process, I want to study something that will actually impact student learning and reading proficiency. #reading #literacy #masters #masters-degree #research

When should I earn my master's degree?

I'm studying to be a teacher, and I've heard different things about when I should earn my master's. Some people say I should earn it, then get a job, while others have told me it's better to earn my bachelor's, get a job, and then work on my master's in the summer. #teaching #masters-degree #job

How long will it be until I get my Masters degree?

I hopefully plan to get my masters degree by 2024 and finally start working in my profession, but I know that as I grow older, life gets harder and may delay the projection that I have. Either way, I hope to reach it by 2024 and that's one of my goals, but the future holds it all. #masters-degree #businessmajor #education #school #graduate-school

Is it better to just do Automotive engineering or do a combination of mechanical and electrical engineering?

Specifically I would do Mechanics and Power and I want to do research and development for an automotive company specifically doing propulsion systems. Things like drivetrain and the engine. Since the future is electric power, I think it is a good idea to have the knowledge of electrical engineering as well as mechanical engineering, #automotive-engineering #mechanical-engineering #electrical-engineering #electric-vehicles #electrical-and-electronic-manufacturing #mechanics #masters-degree #research-and-development

Is pursuing a master's degree or higher worth it?

I currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, and I originally was going to pursue a master's and a Ph.D. after its completion. However, in speaking to advisors, classmates and a couple of individuals in related fields, I have become hesitant about my original plan. With all the issues currently going on with graduate programs, and being told that some of the jobs I have interest in do not require higher than what I am pursuing, I am asking if I still should apply for them? And, if it would actually do me good, even if I become over-qualified. Thank you! #graduate-school #environmental-science #masters-degree #phd #higher-education

Would it be better to obtain an undergraduate and graduate degree separately or together in a single program?

I am a high school student going into my senior year and can't decide which program route I should go into. Over the summer, I have discovered my passion for the occupational therapy field and the good that comes out of it. Knowing very well that I want to major in that study, I started looking into universities that offer an occupational therapy program. I soon found out that there aren't many colleges that offer an undergraduate program for occupational therapy, solely because it is a field that requires a graduate degree to be licensed. I have found a few colleges that offer a 5-year combined BS/MS program for occupational therapy, but that would mean I would have to sacrifice my opportunity to attend a top school. Should I result to being accepted into a better university, getting a bachelor's in a related major, and then later obtaining my master's of occupational therapy? Or should I stick with the 5-year program in a much lower rank school? What are the differences beside time length to be licensed? #occupational-therapy #college-major #college-degree #bachelor's #masters-degree #masters #undergraduate #graduate-school #university #college

College? Minors, Majors, and coursework?

I know I may be a little young (ninth grader here) to be asking such a question, but I am curious as to how college really "works". I would love to attend a specific college and I'm going to make sure my grades are good for it, but I wouldn't know what to do after graduating and going off to college. I think getting the prerequisites out of the way freshman year seems like a good idea, but what comes after that? Majors, minors, and everything else comes into play. Its all so confusing to me. Can someone help explain how and why we need majors and minors? And how long would it possibly take to obtain a masters degree? How can I figure out what I want to do in the future? I know that I would love to somehow look into gender, sexuality, and women's studies, but how can I get to that point? Is there anything I should knock out in high school to help me make my way up to that point? Thank you!! ~Jack :) #college-majors #majors-and-minors #masters-degree #gender-studies #prerequisites #college-minors #sexuality

What jobs relate to the field of international relations/development?

I am currently working towards an undergraduate degree in international development/globalization with a minor in political science at the University of Ottawa. While I am very interested and inspired by the content I have been learning, I am not sure exactly what I want to specialize in when it comes time to apply for my masters degree and search for job experience. Are my only job prospects working in politics or working for an NGO? Money isn't a major priority for me, I just want to help people who are exploited by the international system, therefore working in politics (for "the system") almost seems like it goes against my values. If I worked in politics, I would want the freedom to make a difference in the field, not to be a slave to it. In sum: Are there any job positions in the political field that may provide me with a sense of independence so that I can make a difference rather than work for the system we already have in place? And are there any jobs outside of the political field that can provide me with a means to make a difference internationally, while still providing me with a minimum sense of employment security? #international #political-science #politics #masters-degree #international-relations #human-rights #international-development #globalization

Experience on studying abroad

I am due to graduate this summer of 2017 (hopefully!) and I am considering a masters. I have stayed at a local university to complete my degree and have been considering studying abroad for my masters. I am considering Germany or Spain and I am from England. I was wondering if anyone could share their experience on studying abroad and if you enjoyed it and just how you found it in general. Was it hard to handle? Was adapting to culture hard? Is the language barrier troublesome? Is it hard being so far away from home for a long time? Thanks in advance! #travel #study-abroad #masters-degree #traveling #living-abroad #graduating
