What are some effective ways to transfer into the biomedical engineering field after getting a bachelor's in biology and environmental engineering?
I am currently a fourth year student (graduating after one more year) at the University of Georgia pursuing a B.S. in Biology and a B.S.ENVE in Environmental Engineering. I added my environmental engineering degree during my second year because I wanted to supplement my biology curriculum with a background in engineering and had plans to go into the alternative fuel industry (such as biofuels, wind, solar, etc.) upon graduation. However, after having passed through my courses in both environmental engineering and biology I have realized that I'd like to mesh the two disciplines more and transition into the field of biomedical engineering. Unfortunately, this transition into the field is daunting considering I do not have an academic background specifically in biomedical, biological, or biochemical engineering. I wonder if any professionals in the field have made a similar transition into biomedical engineering before or have any advice regarding how best to do so? Thanks! #biomedical-engineering #engineer #biology #engineering #environmental-engineering
With the field of biomedical engineering, are there any problems being a girl?
I heard that in most STEM fields, being a girl means you earn less, there are less opportunities, not as many companies believe girls are capable, girls are of less value. I wanted more information if this was a myth or if it was true and how it might be a bad decision to go into this field. #career-in-the-field-of-biomedical-engineering #biomedical-engineering #biomedical #biomedical-engineer

Question about exposure in the field of biomedical engineering
Hi! I am a sophomore at Poolesville High School (magnet school) who is interested in a biomedical career path (still not certain). I was wondering how I can get more exposure in the field--in terms of lab work, research, hands on work, etc.?
Is anyone open to being interviewed by a high school student interested in pursuing a STEM related career?
Hi! I am currently a junior in high school that is trying to complete my college portfolio. I am looking to interview someone who preferably works in a field related to prosthetics/orthotics, biomedical engineering, or neuroscience. The questions would be related to your job and how your experience working in that career has been.
Should I do an apprenticeship?
Recently there's been an apprentice program for a train company. The way their program works is that I would do it every other day. Basically, I go to school one day, and the apprenticeship another day. I don't know if I should do it because then I would have to quit all of my electives (Band, NJROTC, etc). My school only has four periods in a day, so I would only be able to take core classes. I want to be an engineer, preferably in Robotics or Aerospace. The program could be beneficial, but it's not a career that I would want to stay in, but I would gain experience, in assembly, manufacturing, and electronics. Plus it pays $17/hour. What's my best option? Is it better to take high school classes that are fun, or beneficial to college and career?
I want to become an engineer (Robotics or Aerospace Engineering). Currently, I'm left with a choice of taking classes like Mandarin Chinese (which would look good on resumes, and college applications), or classes like Engineering Principles, Electronics, and Robotics. I don't really want to take a language, but it could be beneficial. I plan on serving in the military (preferably Marines as a combat engineer officer), and translators get paid more (like $300 more or something a month). Or I can take classes like CTE and STEM classes, and complete a career pathway in engineering that is apparently recognized as a credential of value. I'm just curious as to what would look better on college applications, and job resumes (Bilingual or credentials)? Also, if I were to complete the career pathway, I would have to quit band. My teacher says that he could probably get me a scholarship for band though. Is it still worth it to complete a pathway? Finally, if I were to keep band, I wouldn't be able to complete the pathway, but I would still be able to take Engineering and Robotics. What' s my best option? Thanks! #engineering #engineer #college #college #mechanical-engineering #aerospace-engineering #biomedical-engineering #career #robotics #band #high-school #schedule #career-pathway #pathway #engineering #college #engineer #high-school #airline-industry #any #fighter-pilot #navy #armed-forces #aviation #army #raptor #biology #science #career #pilot #tech #technology #marine #air-force #marines #airline #hashtag #military #math #college-major #aeronautics #computer-science #physics #mechanical #chemistry #aerospace-engineering #robotics #any #information-technology #technology #medicine

What are the best ways to find someone to interview?
Hello! I’m a high school junior looking for someone to interview for my engineering class. The only requirements are that they are from an engineering or tech heavy background although personally i’m very interested in science or programming related fields so that would be preferable. I would also prefer that they live in/are from/went to School in my state-north carolina, but that’s not a requirement. I tried linked in and googling to find professionals near me but the majority of what came up was add listings. Does anyone have advice on how I can find someone in that field who would be interested in an interview?

If I am interested in building technology that is used in hospitals, would I study mechanical or biomedical engineering?
I am a junior in high school and I am very sure that I want to be an engineer that works on building and testing all types of devices that people in the medical field work with, such as diagnostic machines, operation room monitors, scanning machines, etc., but I am confused about whether that fits in with mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering. #engineering #medical-technology #mechanical-engineering #biomedical-engineering

How do scientific researchers come up with their ideas?
I'm an 11th grader in some biotechnology classes, and it's got me very interested in pursuing a career in medical research. However, I don't really understand how researchers come up with their ideas. Is there a list out there to choose from, or do people come up with them themselves? Because I've been trying and never came up with anything.

Is there a profession out there that's an equal balance between creative writing/publishing and biomedical science?
I am torn between majoring in English and Biomedical Science/Engineering. I love to write stories and strive to become an editor for a publishing company/fiction author or screenwriter, but I also love genetics and would love to be a genetic engineer and researcher (see the details from my previous question.) My parents don't want me to pursue an English degree because the profession "isn't that lucrative" and I'd spend a long time working my way to steady earnings, but they also want me to find a job doing what I love. They've suggested technical writing, but I fear that technical writing could also mean less creativity when writing instruction manuals or scientific journal articles.
