How should I figure out my major?

I've never known what I wanted to do or pursue career wise. I took psychology and sociology in my first year and a half at college, and I liked them, but I don't know what exactly I want to major in. I wouldn't mind studying more into sociology but I also want a career with a pretty decent earning as well. I detest any mathematics, but I am quite fond of English, writing, history, sociology, psychology, communications, and philosophy. Quite a lot, I know, but those are the only classes I've taken that I'm interested in. I just want to find my path and what I like before I waste my money and time on other classes that won't benefit me. #psychology #career-counseling #communications #writing #english #sociology #history #philosophy #undecided #college

Careers available in prevention of human trafficking?

I am a high school student currently enrolled in collegiate high school working towards my AA. I am very interested in fighting sex trafficking and would be interested to know my options as far as this field goes and what my major should be to be successful on this path, but still have a versatile degree. Any advice? I know this is a bit vague but I'm really looking for as much information as I can get and I think experienced opinions to supplement my research could lead me in the right direction. Thank you! #psychology #human-resources #sociology #non-profit #social-services #human-rights #gender-studies #human-trafficking #career-details

How do you foster creativity?

How do you come up with creative and juicy ideas right off the bat? I am having a hard time researching ideas with AI and referencing other sites but some people just thought of it fast!! I read a lot of materials from time to time but these people are just on another level of creativity and originality. I commend those people but sometimes I feel jealous.

I have really good internship offers for the medical field, but Im really only interested in the Mental Health field, does anyone have any recommendations to what I should do?

Hi, Currently I am a highschool student who is also minoring in psychology at community college and plans to double major in psychology and sociology, then earn a masters in social work, recently I was presented the opportunity to be inscribed with the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence, which is a two day national academy of future physicians congress meeting that will also allow me to be featured on local TV stations and newspapers. The problem being that I'm not interested in the medical field as a future career path. If I were able to pass this over to someone else, I would but I can't. This would be a really big opportunity to put myself out there, and it would look really good on college applications, and on my academic profile, but it doesn't have anything that I inherently want for my future career path, and it also might look weird on my college applications.

How Should I narrow down what major I would like to go into when I am not sure what to choose.

I am very interested in psychology and communications. I am good with people and do well in sciences classes so I considered being a nurse. I have always been interested in being a detective or analyst, I am just not sure what jobs I would be able to get if I went into Criminal Justice and psychology. I also want to make a good amount of money, and be able to have kids and still have a job where I prioritized my family and work. #psychology #nursing #criminal-justice #career #sociology

Can you get an associate's degree in one subject and a bachelor's in another?

I am an aspiring LCSW in sophomore year. I am taking my associates in college this year, but I don't know if I should major in Psychology and English or Sociology and English (I have to take a college class for English, but It was also recommended that I take another dual college class as well). In college I want to major in Sociology, and I was wondering that if I were to take a Psychology class would it look perplexing on my College application.

Hi, I'm a senior and I'm going into sociology after I graduate. I know there is quite a lot to do in the field, but is my choice of a career path seem....right?

I'm going to major in sociology, maybe minor in criminology and my plan after that is going on to law school. I've been told that it's odd I'm going into socio if I plan on going into law afterwards. At the same time I have met people who have gone to school for the same thing and have loved every minute of it. I guess my question is if a major in sociology would be a good path to follow if I'm going into law? #law #lawyer #career-path #majors #sociology

If I'm MISERABLE at college then what should I do?

“The world is in perpetual motion, and we must invent the things of tomorrow... Act with audacity.” – Madame Clicquot. I'm starting to become less risk averse and I may drop out or take a leave of absence from college because I hate it. I know it's easier to get a job with a degree but it is possible to still make it without one. If I'm interested in communications or marketing (don't know what I want to do) is it possible to intern with a company and then work my way up? I'm interested in how people think and I understand American culture very well. I'm also good at understanding group dynamics. I can't imagine myself in college for the next three years and I've tried rationalizing my situation because I'm so desperate but it just isn't working!... Thanks. #business #psychology #marketing #entrepreneurship #higher-education #sociology #start-ups #dropout

How can idealism and realism be combined to create a true visionary in entrepreneurship?

Visionaries are visionaries because they're crazy enough to believe that one day their idea will come true. Idealism and realism both play a role in becoming a visionary. Empathy and creativity also influence a visionary's actions. There are finders and makers. Finders are the idea people and makers execute the ideas. #business #psychology #communications #sociology #communication #social-media #marketing-and-advertising

Is a sociology degree helpful for public relations?

Hi, My name is Alyssa. I am a 25-year-old student who is almost ready to transfer to a #communication university to finish my bachelor's. I currently will hold 2 AAs in communication studies and sociology. My goal is to work with the public ultimately. I want to help with charitable campaigns, environmental work, and law. My counselors suggested PR, which is intriguing, but I wonder how applicable it is. I also personally am working on my own to start side projects spreading awareness and action for saving bees and plastic cleanups. I know they are small but it is my passion. Would a career in PR be anything similar to these endeavors? #law #sociology #public-relations #environment#campaign

How does the concept of the dialogical self impact our daily conversations?

The dialogical self is the mind's ability to imagine the different positions of participants in an internal dialogue in close connections with external dialogue. This theory weaves together two conecpts: self and dialogue to understand interconnections of self and society. How does this theory impact sociology, psychology, and the way we communicate in general? This ability comes natural to me and also reminds me of self vs. different subject positions in our culture. #psychology #marketing #research #communications #sociology #public-relations #business-intelligence #personality

I am extremely interested in Criminal Justice and Sociology, but I don't know if I should double major, or if I should get a master's in one area. What's the most logical and cost effective thing to do?

I have a real passion for sociology and criminal justice. I'm not too sure what I want to do career-wise , but I do know that I want to be involved in helping people (especially children) of racial minorities break free from systemic racism. I am extremely passionate about social change and want to work to help fix a justice system that targets and fails socioeconomic minorities. That being said, I have narrowed down the two majors that can help me achieve these goals to sociology and criminal justice. However, I'm not sure what level of degree to pursue. I have been advised to pursue a master's in either subject, but I'm not sure which major is better for my interests. I have also considered double-majoring, but from what I've read I'm not too sure that double majoring is worth it. Any advice on what degree/major I should pursue? Is double majoring really not worth it? If I do double major, will it carry the same value as a master's degree in either area? If I have to choose, how can I know which major is right for me? #criminal-justice #college #sociology #college-major
